Mewsbrook Park is just a minute’s walk from the beach in the seaside resort of Littlehampton, West Sussex. It covers approximately four hectares and boasts a number of attractions including boating lake, miniature railway, café, original art deco shelters and children’s play area. Opened in 1939, the Mewsbrook sets a high horticultural bench mark for public parks. Large shrub and long herbaceous borders together with bee and butterfly Gardens provide colour and interest throughout the year. The lake serves as an excellent local amenity, and is regularly used by visitors for boating. The lake and island are also a haven for wildlife. Starting in 2017 a new leisure centre is to be built, accommodating a proportion of Ruby Gardens. A re landscaped Ruby Gardens is anticipated to open in 2018 with focus on conservation. There is a positive sense of community in the park, supported by the Friends of Mewsbrook Park, Mewsbrook Park Café and Boat Hire and Littlehampton Miniature Railway.
Used to go here often as a kid in the 80s. Me & my brother would catch sticklebacks in the little stream.(Not sure if you're allowed to do that now) Health & Safety!!??
Returned for the first time in over 20 years with my wife and its still as beautiful, tranquil oasis as I can remember.

Right near the award winning sandy Beaches, river harbour & marina. Have fun on the Dodgems and Adventure Golf. Make a splash on the Water Chute and take a turn on the Junior Ocean Coaster. Rides for the younger children include Giant Slide, indoor Soft Play Area, mini car circuit and the Spinning Barrels. Specialty F&B include freshly battered fish and chips, bean to cup coffees and local pastries in the Maritime Galley Restaurant or the Harbour Kitchen.
Totally love this place. It's family run and there's plenty to do for all ages.
You can have a lovely meal in the Gallery restaurant or just a snack in the main building.
There's a lovely ball park with a separate area for younger children. Lots of exciting fun fare rides from the spinning waltzer to the water ride.
The token system is a great idea as well and there are plenty of machines around the park to purchase them. All in all a great family day out.

The Heritage Exhibition and Viewing Tower is based around the harbour and seaside history of Littlehampton and the surrounding area, the Heritage Exhibition has interactive displays, historical artefacts and fascinating pieces of information to inform and amuse both adults and children. Do you know what ships were wrecked off the Sussex coast; why a customs house was built in Littlehampton in 1864; when the town first started to receive day trippers; what birds wheel above the river and float on its waters? Come to our exhibition and find out the answers to these and many other questions. As for our viewing tower, it has some of the best views in Sussex. It is said you can see the spire of Chichester Cathedral from the Upper Tower using the binoculars provided. Why not come and find out? Or bring your camera and step out onto the Lower Tower balcony to take amazing pictures of the River Arun that you would never get at ground level.
First the positives, service was quick and friendly, and our order was delivered very quickly. Overall the breakfast was very nice.
Now the negative, I thought it was very difficult to cook a piece of bacon without any colour, but it seems they managed it. Buried under the beans was 2 barely cooked pieces of bacon. Floppy and pale and very underwhelming. Apart from that it was fine. Just an extra 60 seconds in the pan and the breakfast would be perfect.

Although I have lived in Sussex for a long time I had never walked this stretch of the County's coast line. What have I missed!
Littlehampton's west beach is away from the more commercialised east beach and consists of a long sweep of mainly pebble beach backed by dunes (the latter in part cordoned off to preserve the nature reserve and SSI).
Accessed via a mainly one track road and passing the golf course and marina the west beach is serve by local authority parking area and the West Beach Café. Note that the first part of the car park starts half a mile or so before the 'point' so worth carrying on to the main car park.
Depending on the state of the tide you can access the beach directly from the car park or via the nature reserves wooden pathway which lead further along the pebble/shingle beach and the dunes. At low tide you can drop down onto the exposed sandy beach.
West beach is a wide sweep of coastline and a wonderful area to walk dogs throughout the year.

Seen a few shops like this but this is the king of them all, very reasonably priced but still spent over £20 because you keep on seeing an old favourite.

Myself, wife, two children and boxer dog went for a long walk from the car-park to West Beach.
After spending a few hours on the beach we decided to walk back - and what a massive bonus to find that for a small charge all of us could jump on this ferry and cross over to the East Beach.
FYI: Parking charges on the West Beach are very expensive - much cheaper on the East Beach side.
