I enjoyed the interactions between the seals and the trainer and they are well trained, highly intelligent animals. I was a bit surprised as to the size of the tank, slightly small for four seals. There is no English, not an issue but don't expect it. Would like to know why you cannot take photos, this was a big downside. It's a little pricey for 35-40 minutes but you'll enjoy it, i certainly did.

Best place to learn about Baikal- history, fauna, people. We got excellent guide (in russian), who could answer any question.

If you are planning for a shorter walk, I'd opt for the Cherskogo stone instead, as you have to walk quite a while (probably a couple of hours) before reaching any kind of view points. Nice hike, but not if you're expecting breathtaking views etc all the way.

Just five minutes by ski-lift we could get to the view point.
Can see the Lake Baikal and Angara river. I visited this place Feb 2017 and Lake baikal was totally frozen but angara river was not. It took 20 minutes to walk down.
Fantastic view during winter time. Lots of snow, trees, etc...

This place is amazing! Very clever person who makes things. Small entry fee. Also soviet cars. Doesn't take long to look around but worth it. Close to st Nicholas church.

I was in Listvyanka as part of a G-Adventures Trans-Siberian Rail Excursion. It was my hope that the guide, Svetlana, could arrange a dogsledding and sleigh ride adventure while there. She was successful, and other trip participants agreed to join in. It was so much better than snowmobiling. More original and in touch with the natural surroundings. The staff were most accommodating and helpful at making this an enjoyable experience for myself and the other participants. All eight of us enjoyed this adventure.

This church was built by a man who nearly drowned in the lake. It's very unorthodox construction according to our guide was because no construction crew would stay longer than one Siberian winter so it's a bit of a hodgepodge of styles. The interior also has a few idiosyncrasies which you would only notice if you were familiar with Russian Orthodox church iconoclasty. Women need to cover their legs and heads (skirts and scarves are available in the lobby without charge). There's not much to do in Listvyanka so it's a nice stop but certainly not a must-see if you're short of time. Lake Baikal is beautiful in and of itself, it's nice to enjoy the scenery instead of feeling like you need to rush and see certain things.

Visited back in Oct 2012, this is one of the most old school type of observatories in the world. In Listvyanka, you can see the deepest lake--Lake Baikal just distance away from the centre. The Observatory is also suitable for star searching and other things._
