This visit proved to be laborious and hard-earned. The monastery is located uphill and the walk up there is no mean feat for many people. There is a very handy and affordable bus ride to the monastery but we had it the hard way. There are breathtaking views to behold on the way up as a reward for perseverance and excellent shots can be taken by photo enthusiasts among us.
Upon reaching the monastery, we were utterly overwhelmed by the beauty of the place and it's surroundings. It was originally built in the 4th century and its serenity and quiet beauty just left us speechless. We had a brief exchange with a monk praying in the main church and left humbled by wisdom of this holy man.
A wealth of experience.

To be honest, i'm not really a wine person but am glad i visited this winery. There is a guided tour of the winery with a brief intro of the wine making process, followed by wine tasting. We tasted the semi sweet wine, rose and red wine. They also have sweet wine which is real sweet. At the end of the tour, i bought 2 bottles of sweet wine and 1 rose wine for <50 lari.

Winery is large, but not many people know about it.
You can go there by taxi, or with tour guides. At the place you can taste some of their wines and chachas for free. And believe me - everything tastes perfect. Saperavi, Tvishi, Kindzmarauli - one of the bests. Kvanchkara however is one of the weakest in their offer. But generally it's must see, must go place.
I recommend it with all my heart.

The Citadel is reached by a short uphill path, externally the Citadel looks impressive with its brickwork, but internally there is little too see. The Museums have some local artifacts, but only mildly interesting. There are good views across the local countryside which provide the rationale for building the Citadel in this location.

Winery Chelti Complex was founded in 2001, which is located in Kakheti region, village of Shilda, Kvareli district. From the very beginning, the company’s goal was to produce only the premium quality products. Therefore the company began to plant own vineyards which would have given the possibility to control the quality of grapes.
We went there with City Sightseeing Tbilisi as part of the Kakheti tour,
The place is an amazing sight on its own although a long ride away from the city.
Charming people welcomed us and gave us an tour of the place, showed us how the wine, bread and churchkhela was made.
We had a wine tasting, the wine was great (i am not a wine expert though so don't trust my judgement).
My only complaint is that i didn't enjoy the food too much, didn't find the chicken barbecue too good.
Otherwise its worth a visit but beware of the long ride from the city!

The complex includes museum that has a lot of 19th century photos and a few personal effects; defensive tower where Ilia was born during Lezgin's rampaging in the area; and a family home that has only three rooms and much smaller than attached winner (marani).
House is located on the square in the city center just near other attractions of Kvareli.
Entrance charge was 1 GEL and English speaking guide was available.

The Wine Yard # 1 is located 160 kilometers away from Tbilisi, at the borderline of Georgia and Dagestan (Russian Federation) in Kvareli district, village Akhalsofeli (former Gavazi), and 16 kilometers away from Kvareli. The Wine Yard # 1 is a touristic attraction that includes a traditional wine cellar, house, and yard.
These folks at Wine Yard N1 are just amazing, they serve at it's best and make sure that every single guest experiences the real Georgia, real cradle of wine spirit and amazing food and hospitable stay. I would recommend to everyone!

If you are doing the drive in the foothills of the Caucusus between Sighnaghi and Telavi, then this is worth a stop on the way. The musuem signs are all in Georgian but the reconstruction of the winery and the relocation of a tower-house enables set next to the daring modernist architecture of the museum allows some great photo opportunities with the Mountains soaring in the background. Friendly staff (no English) turn the lights on and off as you enter / exit each room
