A palace of the once rich and famous aristocracy of Lithuania; the encapsulating glass Orangery provides for a mini rain forest – amazing!
Whilst the building is a popular venue for weddings, with its own private Civil Wedding Licence, it also offers restaurant facilities surrounding an almost tropical encrusted rock-face rain forest – this can only be described as the largest Orangery I have ever seen!
Besides the natural Orangery/Rain Forest features, the building is steeped in ancient aristocratic history of the rich and famous belonging to the same family for centuries.
Any Trip Advisor visiting the area in Lithuania close to the Baltic coast this has to be at the top of your list for at least one day out, enjoying either afternoon tea or a meal whilst visiting the Orangery and the grounds.

This is the oldest surviving church in Samogitia, it was built 400 years ago. Family members of city founders Chodkevičiai are buried underneath the central altar.
The church is visible from anywhere in the city. It stands in the center, near Town Hall Square, valley with Grotto, rivulet and nice park.

The Blessed Virgin Mary’s Ceaseless Help of God’s Home of the Franciscan sisters – the sisters participate in parish activities and teach religion to children in comprehensive schools. Their main purpose – Glory of God and merciful works of a close person, love, soul and body, apostleship among youth and adults, and catechizing. The vision of the congregation – to make this home like a Noah’s Ark for those who are in need of spiritual refreshment, peace of soul and renewal.

This place can be visited during guided tour in all the monasteries of the city. Nuns here are very closed, you can see them paying the the chapel but even their relatives cannot communicate directly to them. This is a mysterious and interesting place.

The 80 sculptures carved from oak and located in this park (Witches Hill) are incredible. The stories and legends associated with them are fun and enjoyable. A person soon understands who Lithuania was Europe's last pagen state.

Nice place if you are coming to Kretinga. There are 13 wood sculptures each simbolizing different event or festive. Unfortunately not much information in other languages than lithuanian. Nice park around with three ponds, well maintained paths and the famous Winter garden is several hundred meters away. Around solar clock there are lots of green grass, benches and it is famous place for meeting with friends in Kretinga.

The monument is dedicated to preacher, botanist, folk healer, priest, monk Jurgis Ambrozijus Pabrėža (1771-1849). The monument testifies gratitude of Kretinga citizens to the great Franciscan priest for his solace and helping hand to the misery people, for his love to mother language and land. Monument was built near the main entrance to the churchyard of Kretinga Church in 1993. Sculptor - Algirdas Bosas, architect - Saulius Manomaitis.
Many citizens of Kretinga considers father Ambrozijus as saint, visit his tomband pray for intercession from deseases and curses. Brothers Franciscans built a chapel on his grave.

This tiny Lutheran church serves this small community. We visited with the pastor who told us there are 5 regular families here (about 20 persons). It's a beautiful little community. Winters here must be tough. The carved tree at the front of the property is very interesting.
