- The mother of Sultan Abdülaziz reconstructed this mosque in 1874 after a fire so the name Aziziye. The area has the same name "Aziziye"
- It is located just one block from Mevlana museum in the business center of the city.
- The architectural style is a mixture of boroque and traditional Ottoman architecture. - It is unique in Turkey because of his double minaret building, its main floor is elevated, the floor space is not wide as there is no yard, and its windows are wider than the doors. The praying hall is square shaped and its ceiling is a big dome.
- Bluish marble has been used in the construction of mimber and mihrab.
- Beside and around the mosque there are many small Gardens where people stay and talk and to the north there is a beautiful roofed washing Fountain..
- The area is filled with food stores, restaurants, coffees and shopping streets.

Its a great opportunity to visit Rumi’s . The artwork on the walls with the Seljuk tombs along with the magnificent chandlers, all together, gives a special charm of ancient times.
Highly recommended, plus its free
Tip : never miss the rooms around the shrine. They are like a museum with great info about sufism and their culture

You have to go full circle in Konya: so is Rumi (Mevlana) and his teacher Sems. Is a great little mosque in a quiet little square with a beautiful Fountain outside and inside everything is very intimate and you are able to “contemplate” your soul!

Up the hill and you find another Seljuk place full of charme. Everything is under “reconstruction/improvement” but you can see that once is finished will be very beautiful. We were there during Friday prayers so we left soon trying not to disturb!

This Seljuk style building is worth seeing but be sure to step inside, you can find many historical remains exhibited here. The remains of Seljuk era are full of interets! There are still some elements of pre-Islam ( animals or birds figures, the human face ) in Seljuk remains. Worth seeing. And the dome is breathtakingly beautiful!

Beautiful modern building built on traditional lines. Calm and peaceful tribute to those lost in the internal struggles. Highly decorative interior beautifully presented. Some exceptionally good mosaic pictures showing the map of Turkey, battle sites, scenes of battle and a miniature representation of the countryside and peoples lives before and after the conflict. Quite fascinating and well thought out.

Everything about this, from arriving at the side of a sparkling blue green lake surrounded by Mountains, to the village houses surrounding the mosque, to the 13C mosque itself, were delightful. The interior is beautiful wood, much of it carved and painted, and beautiful light coming from a skylight in the roof. There is a stunning Mihrab in turquoise and black tiles. Unfortunately the medrassa was closed for renovation, but we enjoyed walking around the village and seeing some of the renovated houses and others in a sorry state of collapse, plus the domed tiled roofs of the hammam.

Well this was a surprise - wasn't expecting a beautiful, verdant, shady, sprawling Japanese style garden with meandering pathways, Fountains, and lots of little family-size pagodas for improvised picnics - all in the heart of Konya. Admission is free, there is a nice-looking restaurant, and this is just the perfect place to spend a restful afternoon. Popular for obvious reasons with the locals, too, so you will see some charming scenes of Turkish families with granny doing her knitting in the pagoda while the younger ones go for a stroll.
