With nine bays and 36 beaches, Huatulco is ideal for anyone who loves the sun. It's not an overdeveloped resort town, but the hotels are comfortable—even luxurious. Ecotourism is gaining in popularity, so take a break from sunbathing and try river rafting or a hike through the jungle.

Easiest to get here by boat... but we made the 30-40 minute hike thru the woods from the end of the paved road. BRING WATER! Arriving at the beach is like a mirage -- after sweating thru the jungle brush you come to a magnificent, huge, hilly, powdery sand beach ringed by giant rocks & cliffs. I've been to many many Beaches and this is one of the most stunning... and natural. We saw a few private boats moored & enjoying the beach - a few other tour boats passed by... but we were the only people from land -- for half-a-day. Swimming is ok in most areas. Very limited shade and NO services of any kind. Felt like Castaway! Fabulous!

Agroecological development where can be admire different phases from the cultive of fruit trees and exotic flowers. Natural sanctuary for butterflies and birds. Hagia Sofía is a paradise to return to nature and spiritual peace.
We’re so glad that we decided to visit the Hagia Sophia property! Moises, our bus driver and tour guide, is fluent in both English and Spanish and very knowledgeable. It was fun to enjoy the delicious breakfast and lunch in a charming outdoor setting, featuring fruits and vegetables grown there. The walk was very doable, although at times hot due to the high humidity, and we learnt so much about the trees and plants and their various medicinal uses. Cooling off in the river and under the Waterfalls was the perfect finale to the walk.
It’s quite a long drive and the roads are not in the best shape, so if you are prone to car sickness, this may not be the trip for you.

This beach is perfect for snorkeling and diving and features fresh-seafood restaurants.
The beach was absolutely lovely. The Bay is lined with enough restaurants and bars that are not competitive. Prices are very high. Bring your own food and negotiate with the collective taxi before you leave the highway because they will rip you off. Snorkeling is good and the waves are gentle.

The beach changes from year to year. Some years there really is no beach when the water is high. This year we were very lucky because the beach was vast!!! And there was no one on it!! Beautiful for a beach walk, or even better, bring your beach umbrella, and a couple chairs, and a cooler and spend the afternoon. If you want to eat be sure to go to the restaurant on the left (when looking from the beach) and try the shrimp burger, or whole fried fish....amazing.

Most of the hotels are located here along the bay or climbing the cliffs.
Staying at the Camino Real Xaashila on Tangolunda Bay is like having your own private beach.
A rock outcropping separates the beach from the rest of the sand in front of the other major hotels on the bay.
This means that the only people in the beach are from the Camino Real. It's at the extreme southern end of the bay with interesting rock formations and a cliff making it accessible only from the hotel. Since all Mexican Beaches are public, this makes this part of Tangolunda the closest to private it can be. The sand is flat but the drop-off in the water is close to the shore. The ocean is relatively calm here due to the bay formation. The rest of the beach is similar in formation....just more people on it.

We had a wonderful time visiting the falls with our tour guide Alfonso through Best Huatulco Tours. We stopped and jumped and swam in a few spot along the way up. It was a little more physical demanding than we had originally thought (if you want to go through the caves which I HIGHLY recommend), but well worth it.

We had a great day exploring the flora and fauna of Copalita. The view from the lookout is spectacular. The little museum was interesting, and the artifacts are in great condition, although all of the information is in Spanish. There weren't any English guides available on the day we visited. There were several paths that were closed while we were there, and not many ruins excavated, but it was still worth the visit. Msny of the walking paths are shaded, which was lovely on a hot day.

One of the more remote bays known for snorkeling and diving.
Entrega is a great place to snorkel if that’s what you are into. Very busy place but if you are confident enough to go left around the corner, there is another small beach area that is a little quieter. We rented a locker so we were able to stay in the water without worrying about leaving our stuff on the beach or feeling bad about leaving it at a table in a restaurant. We liked the snorkeling so much that we visited a total of 3 times.
