Furano is the northernmost Prince Snow Resorts. The ski resort consists of 2 zones, Furano and Kitanomine, which have 23 trails in total. You can reach the summit directly by a 101 passenger Furano Ropeway and see a great view of the Daisetsu Mountain Range. There are 2 ski-in ski-out Prince Hotels at the bottom of each area, in which you can enjoy après. Hot Springs near the ski area and sightseeing in Furano town are also fun experiences.
This is the first Hokkaido ski resort that I have been too (previously been to Niigata and Nagano resorts). The temps are a bit more chilly but there was decent powder everywhere. No wait time for most of the lifts except for first thing (8:30 am) on a Thursday when the ski schools are out big time. This resort is predominantly skiers and I'm not sure how, whereas other ski resorts are predominantly snowboarders. Typical Limited eating options-noodles or curry but probably just enough to prove frustrating for vegetarians. Plenty of vending machines with hot drinks, just tricky to find waste bins. It was surprising that the lifts except for one on each lower slope All close at 15:40. All the more reason to take a short lunch. The course color scheme is a tad confusing-the course maps uses red to indicate "intermediate" on the actual course, but the representation on the larger area map is blue. Thankfully green courses are still easy And black is still terrifying. I noticed lots of people going thru these little metal gates to go off trail. It's always better to be an "intermediate" skier in Japan, as with the longer lifts you are forced to take blue/red trails to reach the greens for Furano/Kitomine. Or you could ride the gondola back, like some tourists without skis did just to get to the Restaurant Downhill. I appreciated the effort that went into making the various snowfoxes/rats?

Really worth a visit - at night with the lights it’s quite enchanting. Artisans are at work on their handmade crafts in the individual huts - cozy inside. Next door the Furano Kan Kan Mura Winter lights area with snow tubing and colored lights illuminating ice sculptures was a thrill for the kids. Rug up though ... it’s cold out there.

This is certainly a quick and efficient way to get a lot of people to the top. There are two carriages, so the wait is never very long.
On the down side, the carriage can get quite packed and unless you're very lucky you don't get to sit down and rest the legs.
It's amazing, with Furano's wide and varied runs, how the crowd disperses at the top of the ropeway. One minute you think the runs will be busy as dozens of people emerge, the next minute everyone seems to have disappeared in different directions and the runs are quiet and open.

staff in furano tourism centre were very helpful as they speak english.i really appreciated that as it can get pretty frustrating for a non japanese speaker.
however, the guides on the bus tours, lavender bus or biei twinkle buses, spoke no english.i'm sure i missed out on a lot of information, specifically on the biei tours.since majority of tourists were non japanese, why speak japanese only??
the time allotted to the flower farm in biei was too short.minimum should be 1 hour.skip the gallery.

We visited Rokugou-no-mori(ROKUGOU FOREST)
Last week. Cos we have never been there.
If you are not interested in Japanese drama called Kita-no-kunikara(from north country), recommend you not to visit here
To watch old house you are required to pay 500 yen to 1200yen
After watching felt very expensive!
