Florianopolis was dubbed by Brazilian weekly Veja as "the best place to live in Brazil", so it’s only natural that tourists would want to check it out, too. And do they ever. Florianopolis is a thriving destination for its perfect beaches, excellent surfing, amazing seafood, and juxtaposition of a modern megacity with 16th-century colonial fortresses and relaxed markets and parks.

It is definitely my favorite spot in the island. The path starting from Matadeiro takes about three hours, and the one starting from Pântano do Sul is a two hours hike. I would highly recommend taking the Matadeiro one and starting as soon as the sun rises (so you can spend a lot of time at the beach).

The Santo Antonio Beach is a very beautiful part of the city, with some perseved Architeture of the colonial Portugueses. The sunset in the beach is wonderful and the beach is full of good bars and restaurants with view to the bay. During the night you can even see the beautiful and old Hercilio Luz beach. A place worth to be visited.

As many other Beaches in Florianópolis this one is pretty good! Close to the start of Lagoinha do Leste hiking there are some houses to rent and you can only access on foot, but you would have privacity and great views! The beach is pretty clean, the sand track is large and with good structure of snack bars and stores. I guess is a good place to surf too, since I saw some surfers.

Get a boat and spend the day. Here you can eat fresh seafood, talk to nice people and admire exuberant nature. At Cabral Restaurant, try Carapeva bait, right from the lagoon. Diving next to the "castle" is really nice. There's also a water fall to refresh after a long walk. Enjoy!

This beach is beautiful, unspoiled, quiet, and not busy. It took about an hour or hour and 15 to hike to it, there is no way to drive by car. You can rent a boat also but we opted to do the hike. When we got there, we set up a picnic spot, and did some exploring. There is a lighthouse there as well if you walk up onto the rocks and follow the path to the right of the beach. It is a stunning area, not to be missed if you are the outdoors type. Made for a wonderful afternoon.

It's the most ancient place in Florianopolis, where you can feel like turning back in past. Good for a drive view or walking. Not for swimming. There are many sea food restaurants that produce their own oyster right in front on what is called oyster farms. Worth a visit for a couple of hours during the day.

It is not a really big area (compared to other sand dunes I've visited. But it is great if you plan to try the sandbaord! It is really easy to rent one around there. The problem will be to go up and down the dunes! If you plan to visit the Joaquina beach, it is a really good idea to stop on the way (or walk from the beach) end enjoy the sand dunes.

when in Florianópolis, this place is a must see! There are many signs that will point out the direction of the Overlook Area, which is close to Praia Mole.
There, you will find bathroom facilities, a small café and a couple of souvenir stores which are actually very affordable. Prepare your camera because this place is a perfect for spot for many excellent snapshots!
There will be a couple of guys "watching" the parking spot, so just give'em something like 2 reais and they will be glad to watch over for thieves for ya while you stroll around.
