Billund is built on LEGO. The city is home to a LEGO factory, which produces the lion's share of the world's plastic building bricks, and a theme park, LEGOLAND.

Every tuesday and sunday in summer they have working people. Baking, the wood shop - like in the old days. Lots of animals on the farm, to be petted and even the big pigs are fun to watch. Very cheap to get in for the value.

We spotted this place by accident on TripAdvisor. It is truly great fun for a family road trip even without previous experience of the sport. The court was well maintained and the equipment was of good quality. No personal equipment was needed. There was no personnel on site but instructions we printed in Danish and English so no problems there. There was plenty of room for more players and playing was affordable (250 Kr for a family of 4, payment in cash). Definitely recommended for families on visit or drive-through.

We drove the short drive from Billund airport and arrived at the Museum at 11ish, something like 45mins before the mid-day opening time.
Some of the voulenteers sat outside in the sun immediateley offered to open early if we would like - just give them 10mins to get things ready !
The museum is located on what was once the Danish Air Basee Vandel - you drive through what would have been a security check point (now dissused) and the Museum - housed in an old Squadron Command bunker is on the left a few hundred yards into the base. Part of the attraction is the sourroundings - old Hardened Aircraft Shelters on Taxiways - VERY atmospheric.
The museum it's self is quite small - 7 or 8 rooms which cover the history of the airfield - there are lots and lots of second world war memorobillia (Mainly German but with some RAF and USAF uniforms and equipment). The guys who run it are as helpfull as it gets - spoke excellent English. Happy to chat and explain all the exhibits and more. We only had an hour but could have spent double that. Entry was the equivalent of £5 I think - not much at all.
Outside are some picnic tables and an old anti aircraft gun. Not part of the museum (But not fenced off from it) are some old Hardened Aircraqft Shelters.
Loved ths small museum - it deserves to be on the tourist map. History and Aviation enthusiasts will love this place.

This is a great place to see a piece of Danish history and buy some interesting stuff. The collection is so eclectic- candy to signage with everything in between! During December it's decorated with hearts and other holiday decorations. You can get a Christmas tree or wreath out front. Have a drink and some dessert out back if you have time. So much to see! You don't have to pay to shop but there's a small fee to see the upstairs museum.

LEGOLAND(R) Billund is Denmark's most famous and popular amusement park for families and children of all ages. With so much fun, speed and action for the whole family, is just one day enough? Set your imagination free - on land, at sea, and in the air. LEGOLAND is a fantastic world of imaginative family experiences that focus on children - a place where you can set your imagination free on land, at sea, or in the air. And there's always plenty to choose from, no matter whether you prefer action or relaxation.
My partner and daughter are both Lego fans so I surprised them with a day trip there is something for everyone from making your own mini figures, building and testing cars and making your own Lego movie!! All the staff were really friendly and engaging,...MoreThank you for your review, however I think that it was meant for LEGO House, so I would recommend you to contact them with your review :-) Kind regards, Eva, LEGOLAND
