There was a large variety of Pancakes and the staff was quite friendly, but didn't seem very motivated. The cost for what you received was quite high in our view, but the taste was very good.
The view onto the river was very nice. Sufficient parking place.

I have eaten in Michelin starred restaurants, but this has been my favourite place for years. I have a severe allergy for crustaceans. I never go anywhere without 2 epi-pens and an allergy card. However, the moment I show my face, the owner recognizes me and tells me that he knows of my shrimp allergy.
The food is good and plentiful. The service is swift and friendly. It is a place which I have come for years and am happy to come back to again and again.
It is advisable to make a reservation as the restaurant is usually very busy

We like to welcome you in our cosy restaurant at 'De Dam' in Zaandam. Restaurant de Boekanier is situated in the center of Zaandam, near the most important shopping streets, restaurant area and historic sights like the statue of Czar Peter. It is also a short 5 minute walk from the hotels Inntel and ZaanIn. Since 1995 we offer day fresh products. Our specialty is fresh fish, but we have also a great offer of meat and vegetarian dishes. Our cuisine is international, with a Dutch/Belgium/French twist. We also offer every month a special menu, so our guests can enjoy a 3 course menu for only 28,50 euro. Special for our international guests we have an English menu available. We hope we may welcome you soon and offer you a delicious meal and pleasant evening. Pepijn List & Christel de Vos

We went here almost everyday of our trip as their food was much nicer and half the price of our hotels.
The staff were all very nice and accommodating and the portions are large. I'd recommend the Irish coffee, I'm going to miss it at home.

What a total surprise to find this fabulous Mexican restaurant in Zaandam on a back street. I LOVE THE AMBIENCE. As fun as any restaurant in San Diego or Denver. Highly recommend

Lovely restaurant with candles on tables and dimmed lights.
Service was efficient and friendly.
Outside Seating available and plenty of room inside.
I had a burger which was homemade and was nice while my partner had a rib eye steak which tasted amazing.
Price slightly on expensive side for food and drinks but was worth it.

After a fulfilling shopping day at Zaandam or an informative visit at the Zaanse Schans, you may take a rest at Brasserie De Smuiger and reward yourself with a nice meal and wine. Or perhaps you rather come earlier in the day? Take a break, have a lunch before you head out for another adventure. Our chefs do not like to set boundaries when it comes to cooking and creating new dishes. Gathering inspirations from all ingredients and cuisines, making every dish a perfect combinations of flavors and colors. Our meals are made from the freshest ingredients possible accompanied by a good wine directly from our winehouse to your table. We offer our guests more than just a meal, we offer you an unique experience of tastes and flavours in a cozy atmosphere. De Smuiger is located nearby open air museum the Zaanse Schans, in a very special building covered in authenic green wooden plates on the outside and filled with many history on the inside.
Delicious food, outstanding service and charming location. Do yourself a favor and come to this amazing restaurant. We just loved it

We had booked this restaurant by email before we arrived in Zaandam purely on the recommendations of others. They emailed me back immediately. The restaurant itself is not in the prettiest part of Zaandam but that didn't worry us. We were greeted and seated quickly where Olives, Breads & Aioli/olive oil were placed as a welcome nibble! The menu's were handed to us after that & drinks were ordered. A glass of prosecco and a Dutch beer! Osgur who is the manager/owner were very attentive and lovely to deal with. We ordered the special meat dish between 2 people with accompaniments. The meat was Gorgeous! Topped off with G & Ts after dinner! Osgur then talked to us about Ireland and how he loves to do walks there....pictures are on the wall of the Wicklow Way that he did! He treated us to a nightcap and we had a chat about the area. Lovely food, lovely place, lovely staff! The area is not so pretty around it but you can get over that....Food is delish & Osgur & staff are very attentive. We'll return!

De Groene Smaak is a great place for lunch after visiting the Dutch village of Zannse Schans. This restaurant is much less touristy and expensive than the places to eat in area. The cafe is cozy and quaint and full of locals. The staff are bilingual and will help you make sense of the great selections and what to try. The food is freshly made daily and they use fresh ingredients without additives.
Some of the specials that I tried included: The hartige taart (excellent), Dutch meatballs and potatoes, and the fresh made soup. Their apple tarts are also delicious with a coffee from their selection of coffees. The cafe has an outdoor Seating area where you can sit (if the Dutch weather permits). Wonderful!

We popped in for a quick lunch while visiting Zaanse Schans on 24/11/2017. Warm and cozy against the cold and very friendly service. We ordered hot chocolate, their Mustard Soup, and a bread plank "broodplankje". This was my first time trying mustard soup and it was absolutely delicious! The soup is served with croutons, crackling and spring onion; and is surprisingly filling.
The overall atmosphere of the restaurant is fantastic! The restaurant is divided into three parts; their fine dining room, their restaurant, and their bar. Each is tastefully decorated.
When visiting Zaanse Schans, it is definitely worth a visit for good quality food and good prices!
