Yaounde, a city of colorful open-air street markets and international embassies, is the second largest metropolis in Cameroon, and the country’s capital. Founded as an ivory trading post, the city still handles the production and distribution of some of the country’s main exports. The city is also a center of Cameroon’s culture, housing the National Museum, the AFHEMI Museum, and the Benedictine Museum of Mont-Febe, all three of which seek to preserve the country’s traditional arts and crafts.

Good variety. Just a bakery, but things are fresh and good. As with most bakeries in Europe, some of the sweets look better than they taste. Average prices.

The menu is quite varied with good starters, fish, meats, etc. The avocado shrimp gratins is a good starter and quite filling. There is several variations on the Capitan Fish and they are all good. The pasta dishes are generous in size and tasty. All in all, a very pleasant place for lunch or dinner ( I have done both). Lunch is usually a buffet. However, the service is quite slow, similar to many other places in Yaoundé! Nothing new so better get used to slow service.

Today we went to Cafe Yaounde for lunch and well up to now for me this is the nicest restaurant/ cafe that I have seen in Yaounde. The garden is lovely and also the restaurant itself is cosy. The walls are filled with art , the ventilators on the ceiling keep it nice and cool (not too cool), it really has a nice vibe....
The service was a bit slow, perhaps because people like to sit here for a long time or because the people will come anyway?.
The food was fine, the stake could have been better, but I was happy with my lasagna!!.
We liked the garden and the restaurant so much that we will be back here and I do recommend people that come to Yaoude to give it a try, I don't think you'll find something much nicer than this.

Went there with colleagues for dinner. Service is efficient with old waiters knowing their job. Tried the tajine recommended by the waiter and it was pretty tasty. Wine is good and overall ambiance is ok for a dinner with colleagues or friends. You can try it.

Listed URL is a local restaurant review, not the restaurant itself. Located in the upscale district of Bastos. This is the most upscale non-hotel restaurant and bar in Yaounde--actually the only one of its type in the city. we just discovered it and had a great meal there. It is pricey, particularly the cocktails. This needs to be listed particularly if local American embassy diplomats have just found this place after 15 months on the scene. By the way, geocoords used as the address because neither Yaounde nor Douala have any street signs. For Cameroon, its best to give a geocoord, go to google maps, print the map and navigate as best one can. I'd prefer street signs and addresses, but they have no meaning here and I'm just a temporary--albeit long-term--guest. If you need more location info, email me. This place should be on trip advisor if only because there are so few nice places to go out at night in Yaounde in decent Neighborhoods. Bastos is one of the most upscale--its a diplomatic area.
Live music with loads of ole zouk, Makossa was reminiscent of my youthful days in Kmer. Bartender could take a mixologist class but the ambience and lively crowd was well appreciated.

Fun vibe about the place. Limited menu but done well. The service occasionally slow but I'd happily recommend it in spite.

Beautiful environment, rather out of the way in Bastos. Food was good, but the selection of local dishes was rather limited, and though the food was pretty overpriced compared to other restaurants around doing the same thing.

Named after Cameroon's famous safou fruit tree, this bright, contemporary Yaounde restaurant has views over the Hilton Yoaunde hotel's Gardens. Savor international buffets for breakfast, lunch and dinner with nightly themes, such as international and local cuisine, amid colorful African artworks.
First impressions are most appealing: the atmosphere is stunning, the staff poised and attentive and the food beautifully presented and protected. Finally, the taste:a wide variety of delicious dishes as tasty as home cooked food that speaks to all palettes. Only wish more dishes from tasty local Cameroonian cuisine were served.
