Yarm is a small town in North Yorkshire, England. The town is on the south bank of the River Tees and is historically part of the North Riding of Yorkshire. The bridge at Yarm marked the furthest reach of tidal flow up the River Tees until the opening, in 1995, of the Tees Barrage, which now regulates river flow above Stockton. As the last bridge on the river before the sea, it was superseded by a new toll bridge opened in Stockton in 1771. The oldest part of the town, around the High Street, is situated in a loop of the river, and the newer parts of the town extend to the point where the River Leven meets the River Tees.

I heard that Tom chef/patron was going to do meals I the evenings, and having a trial run on 1st and 2nd December. We booked for the 1st, for a tasting menu night.
On arrival we were offered a glass of Proseco or an Italian beer, we chose 1 of each.
bread and olives were brought to the table, then the starters, Caprese salad, Bruschetta and Melon with Parma ham. All excellent.
On to pasta with tomato sauce, and with ham and asparagus. Again all excellent.
Then the pieced'resistance, sea bass with Italian potatoes, as my wife said " that was worth every penny".
Then dessert a selection of Italian pastries, no complaints.
We ordered a bottle of Montepulciano wine along side, excellent.
This was one of the best meals I have ever had. I look forward to when the evening menu is available, so I can indulge my inner passion.

Called in Saturday afternoon and it wasn't very busy but service was really slow. Waited ages at the bar then ordered sandwiches that took an age to come.
But like always the food was lovely. 3 lovely fresh sandwiches with a few chips and salad. 2 drinks, 2 sandwiches was £16

Booked a table and asked if we could come 15 minutes earlier, which we did. When we arrived the restaurant was very full but we were shown to our table table. Ordered a bottle of house wine and some olives and dipping bread and water. The wine came and reminded them about the olives and water. Waited for some time and still no olives. Asked a waitress who got me some water. Eventually someone came for our order. Also you normally each get a slice of garlic bread. That didn't appear. Main meals were nice and so ordered desserts. DON'T order the Eton Mess, it's over priced! Came in a glass that was mainly cream-2 pieces of fruit and a tiny amount of meringue.
Next time I think we'll book Caruso's. You get better service there and meals are just as good and possibly cheaper. Not impressed Santoro

Serves the best Italian and Grill food this side of Naples with a warm, friendly atmosphere which is perfect for families, friends and couples!!
Went upstairs to find a rather tired looking reasturant but as it was quite busy i gave it a go.big mistake .spicy chicken wings that were undercooked and lacked spice. A cremated burger that was not edible .not good .i am not one to make a fuss but in fairness the waiter asked why i had not eaten my food .when i informed him he took the burger off the bill .had better nights .

Food excellent value as usual just wish they would change the menu or at least the specials as we live close by written visit for a meal and overcoming a bit boring. Small area now available for people with dogs used to be more space available. On a cold winter s night it can be very c old here as heating either not on or turned off too early.

The light, airy café within our family-run department store captures on a plate the same elements of quality, personal service and good taste as the rest of the shop.We serve the very best teas and coffees to go with delicious scones and cakes that are all baked in-house here in Yarm. Even our bread is made on the premises in our new in-store artisan bakery.Or perhaps you’re looking for something more substantial? Soups, sandwiches and light meals are served all day.The café is a great spot to meet up with friends or family, take the children for a treat, or just grab a chance for a quiet catch up with the papers.Customers from years gone by may recall the coffee shop on our first floor. Rest assured, you’ll find here the same emphasis on fresh-made food created from top quality ingredients.Old favourites that people travel far and wide to find include our gorgeous granary Yarm Bread and the unique and best-selling Yarm Salad Dressing (the recipe is top secret).Add to these some fantastic new creations, and there really is no excuse not to drop by soon and taste our wares! You’ll also find an interesting range of food & drink and culinary gifts to take away. When the weather is warm, you might choose to enjoy a drink al fresco on our pleasant Terrace.Strickland & Holt. Where every department is a world of its own.
Called in mid afternoon today as my usual cafe was full and ordered drinks and cakes.all very nice and reasonable quick service.was served by tall dreadlock young man who was polite and helpful.it was a Sunday and fairly busy here only criticism is the table hadn’t been cleaned from last customers.maybe could do with a refurb as there is some decent competition out there.
