We have just been back to Landhaus Koepp, again it was a remarkable night - not exactly cheap, rather expensive, BUT you definitely get the best value for your money, each and every bite you take is worth the money you are going to spend. The chef creates the most unusual meals, combines ingrediants in ways we had not heard of before. If you bring enough time - everything is absolutely fresh - you are in for an unsual night. Everything is exquite: the atmoshere, the service, food, and drink.

We went to this restaurant, which is also a hotel (and also listed as such in a separate entry here on Tripadvisor) in August 2009 as a party of four. It's situated right on the central square in the pedestrianised area and was very convenient to reach from Hotel Bebber where we stayed overnight. It was a hot summer evening, so we chose one of the outside tables, where there was a good atmosphere. We had a 'Grillpfanne' (Mixed Grill), a 'Schnitzel' and two portions of the local dish 'Himmel und Erde' ('Heaven and Earth' – consisting of slices of black pudding with an apple-potato puree). Whilst we were waiting we were served some bread, which not only was fresh and tasted very nice, but in particular came at no extra charge (unlike our experience in Vienna a month earlier). We found this was a good start and provided us with a good base for our first sip of the excellent German beer! Our food tasted very nice, in particular the local dish, although the black pudding did seem slightly undercooked. The service was friendly and we found that at €65 (including tip) for four main dishes and a drink each we had a very pleasant evening. We would recommend Hövelmann's, but maybe don't go for the black pudding if you have a sensitive stomach.

Pizza great, thin bottom, tasty crust. Gambas not cheap but very well prepared, nice veggies as side dish. Great location (adjacent to Nibelungenhof hotel) and good atmosphere (without noisy music), with hot breads given as appetiser. Attentive staff even though it was almost filled due to a large tour group. Not the cheapest Italian in town but probably one of the best.

The place was not busy at all and we had to wait 45 minutes for some very simple dishes. The food was OK but a little expensive. As a vegetarian, I would rather have bought a felafal roll at a take-away place

We spent the final night of our short stay having dinner here - based on the apparently good previous recommendations. The best thing I can say about it is that the service was good. I was not impressed by the fact that you could not order a bottle of wine - it could only be served by the glass. There was no information about the wine other than it was 'dry red' - and it was not very good. We ordered starters and main courses, but we had not had the opportunity to finish our starts before the main courses were placed alongside! Although the mixed starter was good, neither of our main courses was great - more quantity than quality. To their credit they did offer complimentary glasses of Ouzo both at the start and the end of the meal. However, this did not alter our overall disappointment at the lack of quality with the food and wine.

Looking for a break during our short trip to Xanten we found this little restaurant with fabulous Terrace and River Rhine view. Meanwhile it is the place to cross the Rhine by ferry or to take the boat for a trip along Rees and Emmerich. It is allowed to take the bicycle on this boat so perfectly for a boat-bicycle trip through an interesting region, nature, little cosy towns/villages with many little good restaurants, terraces and Romain history. We ordered a Japanese green tea 4/5, a fresh prune cake 5/5, a lemon cake 5/5, a lunch plate salad, french crinkle fries, chicken nuggets 4/5. Very friendly service and fabulous look over the Rhine and its boat traffic 5/5. We will come back.

Excellent cuisine in laid-back atmosphere and service with the right personal touch. Dining room is a little small and interieur unpretentious. Food, wine and service, however, make every dinner at the Weindepot an inimitable experience. Menü is changing regularity allowing for repeated high quality experiences.
A place to go!
