Passing by this town from looking at the volcanic crater at Dieng, going through dangerous winding and steep roads, we stopped by and had a try at this historical old restaurant.
We arrived ar 1600 hours but the restaurant was closed for recess.
It reopened for dinner at 1750 hours.
We ordered seafood sapo tofu, seafood kang kong on a hotplate, Hong Kong "Lumpia", prawn omelette and seafood fried bee hoon.
Most of the dishes were alright except fried beehoon. The fried beehoon was extremely salty and the beehoon was hard.
The other dishes were also on the salty side but still acceptable.
One point to note: we followed the google map and was directed to the wrong location.
It's better to use the name of the road and the name of the restaurant as the guidepole, asking the locals instead.
The credit card machine was not working either. So if no sufficient local currency at hand, be sure to ring and check the staff before patronising as the prices were on the high side compared to the others in town.

Location:
It lies in the north of the town to be entered via a sidestreet. Get yourself a map from your stay. Its around the corner of the krishna hotel.
Restaurant:
Its a pavillon style open place surrounded by a spacious garden. Both are well maintained and the place looks nice.
Service:
the service speaks decent english, out of the regular order times you have to show that you are in need of service, they rarely stop by.
They take some time with the preparation of drinks, so that might reflect when it would be full, but this was not the case when we were there and it wasnt too long.
Food:
The food is above average. We had nasi goreng which was one of the best we had in Indonesia, a chicken soup that was very good and some dessert. All were really tasty.
Price:
The prices were moderate which rounded up the positive impression we had. Especially in comparison to the ASIA cantonese restaurant we have been the day before.
Would i stay in Wonosobo again i would ignore the other places and just go for this one.

The soto they serve is the local specialty. The ayam (chicken) is good but go for the sapi (beef) excellent! On the table you have several snacks you can take and pay for later. This place is worth going to. Place is clean and people are friendly. Make sure you have an empty stomach cause you don't want to stop eating!

We stopped here for supper after dark, so we missed the great views diners rave about. What a wonderful stop nonetheless – ideal for travelers along the Wonosobo-Temanggung (Kledung pass) route. The parking area is extensive, the restaurant is spacious, the food well-prepared, and the bathrooms are clean. The interior seemed a bit “heavy” with so many dark solid wooden tables, but it would probably look better in natural lighting. We enjoyed the grilled fish we ordered and found the service pleasant as well. Well worth a stop!

This is the best mie ongklok in town! My mom really likes mie ongklong, and she already tried many places in Wonosobo, but this one really the best! It is kinda pricey, but worth it. Try mie ongklok with sate sapi, and prepare for another portion hehehe
