This was recommended as being the best German restaurant in Winterberg. We thought it average at best. The service was cranky and the food not the best. I would highly recommend skipping the experience. I found far better restaurants in Winterberg.

We had the pleasure of visiting Winterberg for New Years, arriving just as the snow fell on Dec 29th. Day one we entered The Blackwater Irish Pub and discovered the most beautiful, fantastic, warm atmosphere of both locals and Irish where we were greeted by open arms & smiles from all the staff. The food was amazining....from 'Erins Teller Tapas' to the juciest of Steaks to the homemade 'Fish n' Chips' this is a real gem in a corner of Germany that I cannot praise high enough and would highly recommend if you are ever in the area. This '5 Star' spot also serves the best in local and international beers....cannot wait for our return visit....keep up the great work folks

This restaurant is located on Kahler Asten “mountain” 842 m altitude. There is quite big parking area beside the restaurant/hotel.
We had a nice warm cup of tea with a delicious piece of cake (apfelstrudel). The don’t serve outside on the terrace(self service) which was not an issue.
The area is superb, a lot of walking tracks departing from the restaurant, beautiful nature.

We were there with a group during weekend. Good local food such as burgers and schnitzels and not expensive ( average prices ). Very friendly and attentive service.

Dined there with my husband. Our savoury pancakes were simply bland and tasteless. My pancake should have come with mushrooms and onions. The onions got lost in transit! Sorry but based on our own experience, we can't recommend this restaurant.

We had 2 times a very enjoyable meal in this restaurant. Great foods, efficient and friendly staff. Also vegetarian and vegan dishes. I enjoyed gnocchi in a lovely tomato sauce and on my 2nd visit tortelli filled with mushrooms. I never had better . For...MoreDanke für die nette Bewertung und wir freuen uns auf den nächsten Besuch.

The interior is what you would call an 'authentic' German décor: a bit old, a bit corny, and a bit dark.
The trout was OK, the accompanying salad and potatoes were just there as sides without adding any joy to the dinner.
Service by the old lady was basic. The bill including beer came to less than 20 EUR.
Just that.

The classic italian restaurant with stone walls offers itself to homemade pasta, pizza, steaks, antipasti, fish, seafood and antipasto.
Seven of us dined here on a cycling trip to the area. The food was quite stodgy, especially the pizza bases. The spaghetti carbonara was too salty. The prices are quite cheap but in my opinion reflect the quality of the end product - I would rather pay more and enjoy the food. We won't be back.

We went for an evening meal, so I cannot comment on the 'panoramic' views, although I am assured they are nice. I went with a large party of 60 people and everyone seemed to enjoy the meals. I had a lovely mixed salad with chicken which was a good size and filling. A few had the potato Rosti and although it didn't look great, it tasted really nice.
The staff were friendly and service efficient. We had a number of children in our party and the staff were able to cater for them and served their food first.
My only comment would be that although the food was mid range price, the drinks were on the expensive side.

we went with a small group there and wanted to watch football.First experience: they had a one man band and it was impossible to talk to each other. later we find out, that there was more space upstairs. But the waiter wanted us to stay with our table.
Food was average. I ordered their famous knuckle "please with plenty of skon". There was no skin and I had many better knuckles. Wheat beer was 4,20€. A price like that I would expect in a 5 star hotel.
Decoration of the place is nice and if you want this bavarian atmosphere - just go.
I am not going again.
