Weimar was quite the intellectual hotspot back in the day, with Goethe, Friedrich Schiller, Bach, Liszt, Lucas Cranach and the Weimar School all spending time here. Goethe groupies will enjoy visiting his home, his tomb and the museum dedicated to him. If you’re in search of great food, visit during the Weimar Onion Market, held in October. (Just don’t forget your mints.)

Our first evening in Weimar, we stumbled across this place, which appeared inviting and cozy from the street. It oozed character and simple sophistication when we entered.
Staff were friendly, helpful, and spoke English. The food was creative and excellent, and the atmosphere felt right, giving us a great first impression of the town.

After a long day of walking around Weimar we wanted to eat something light before catching the train - here you can get various crepes and ciders. The selection was relatively limited, but we were happy with the food and service.
It's pretty popular, so book a reservation or go earlier on weekends or in tourist season.

On a day trip to Weimar, we found the restaurant just a few minutes away from the tourist information (free wifi) and we initially sat outside. However, we discovered that inside was coolerr and empty, so we moved inside before eating.
Mine was something with 2 meats and sausage, and the ladies had a delicious pork dish. You can ask for a small portion if required.
We didn't stay for a sweet, becuase we had our eyes on the icecream in the nearby streets.
The staff were helpful, allowing us to continue in German!
I would go back another time.

The Michelin-star restaurant Anna Amalia at Hotel Elephant, Weimar allures with elegant, luxurious ambience and an exceptional interpretation of the Mediterranean cuisine. It underlines over 320 years of the hotel's prevailing tradition of hospitality as well as its key position as the centre of cultural and social life in Weimar.
Some of the best we've ever had, and my parents are picky… Refined cuisine, but not overdone, the Italian style of giving the components space and combining associated flavours is done perfect, often '3 times of X' done in different ways, playing with texture and...MoreDear Eva, thank you so much for your positive review and thank you for visiting us @ our fine dining Restaurant Anna Amalia. Hope to see you soon back here in Weimar. Kind regards and greeting from all here.

The Café Restaurant Frauentor in a prime location near the Goethehaus offers seasonal, fresh cuisine and selected wines from the region. The cakes from our confectionery are worth a sin! We serve delicious coffee specialties and exquisite teas from the Hamburgian teahouse Kröger. Café Frauentor is one of the best addresses in the region.

it´s a lovely place for lunch or dinner and the staff is amazing. We had three dishes for lunch, the Wuerzfleisch, the Gulasch and the Braetel. The Braetel and the fried oniens were oversalted unfortunately while the other dishes were amazingly tasty. The portions were big. The first course would have been enough already.

Where once was a shelter for carts and threshers we present ourselves to you today as a restaurant with a special flair in Kammergut Tiefurt. The historic building were rebuilt with great attention to detail. The result was a successful mix of old and new. The immediate vicinity of Tiefurt Mansion and Park, the site where Anna Amalia held her round tables in well-known personalities, makes a visit to the restaurant Alte Remise into an unforgettable experience. The historic environment is always worth a visit. We serve a wide and selected variety of national kitchen. Our young and creative team used, under the direction of Chef Peter Scheller mainly local produce, which impress with freshness.
We called into this charming converted carriage mews attached to a summer 'palace' in beautiful 'English-style' parkland. Despite the restaurant appearing full (rain sent all outdoor diners racing for indoor tables), Der Chef managed to magic up a table from somewhere and place it in a premier position by the huge panoramic Windows.
We all chose 'Flammkuchen' which is a flatbread-type dish with a white rather than a tomato-based sauce. The 4 different flatbreads were delicious and very filling.
We noticed that they also provided a range of steaks, cooked as the English would like (the locals like it nuked!). What we saw leaving the kitchen looked good and seemed to be going down well with the diners.
The staff were helpful, cheerful, but didn't speak much English - nor was there an English version of the menu, so foreigners beware!

I cannot believe I have found a restaurant in Germany so bad. It is hard to know where to start so I'll keep it very basic... No atmosphere, food quality poor, service poor, bill very high. So, don't go it's a disappointing evening. The restaurant was not full and they sat us in a corner next to the wine cooler cabinet. Three meas arrived and we had to wait for the fourth, the excuse was the dumplings were not cooked, joke. My "marinated Guinea fowl" was more like a small over cooked chicken with no flavour. I think that's enough, with a bill off 98 euros, and no tip I will not return and neither should anyone else. A rip off....

This is a good choice for a family meal/meal amongst friends and even business dinner. There is lots of variety- especially the meat options are great :) Staff is usually very friendly.
A little expensive when compared to other restaurants in Weimar, however, the food quality is definitely better.

we were there and tried different food, a good point is that they give your meal with bread and rice so you can eat both or just one of them if you are in diet, just i think the behavior of the waiter was nice and friendly but on the first-second time being there it was too much that he even asked me some personal questions and stuff like that. other things were okey.
