In the Sokos Hotel Vuokatti. There is also restaurant Amarillo, but this is the place to be. Excellent local style food! Best in Vuokatti.
We (my family and I) spent six nights in Sotkamo visiting friends. On our last evening there (a Tuesday), our friends wanted to take us out to Ravintola Messi in Sotkamo, but that turned out to be impossible since that restaurant closes at 3 pm on Tuesdays. So we ended up at Kippo instead. We enjoyed it very much. Every dish was unique and delicious, and the service was efficient, effective and friendly (a very rare combination for Finnish restaurants). My only complaint would be that the portions were too small.

A la Carte and lunch restaurant in Sotkamo, near Vuokatti For example, we serve: local fish, homemade burgers, great pizzas
Having been to wonderful Vuokatti Finland last week, i tried this restaurant which is just 7km away from where i was lodged. Its situated at the boundary of Sotkamo when driving from Vuokatti. Cannot be missed for sure since the name Messi is displayed majestically. Have to say that it was one of the best restaurants that i visited when there. Its food was just awesome with some great local dishes especially the fish ones. Has also a great selection of local beer (i was suggested Karhu which is really great). Staff is very friendly and extremely helpful (like the majority of the Finnish people). Atmosphere is very relaxed and has also outside dining. Price wise is quite ok considering the quality of the food. Definitely one not to be missed if you are in that area!

Placed in the midtown of Sotkamo it is easy to find. A few tables and cosy atmosphere in a Finnish way. Clientee is mostly local and elderly. You can take cream and apple filled traditonal doughnuts or buns to eat there or takeaway. I liked it there...

We ate in the pizza restaurant mid afternoon after visiting the Holiday Club Katinkulta to use the fabulous swimming facilities.
The restaurant wasn't busy and the service was prompt and efficient. We were quite pressed for time - had about 50 minutes before our taxi picked us up to catch our flight home. Fortunately, the pizzas were on the table within 10 minutes of ordering.
There is a good selection of pizzas available - some of them a bit different from what would typically be available in a similar pizza place in the UK.
My pizza was very nice - a good size and on a thin base with fresh ingredients. I've had better pizzas on my travels, but the pizza's here are easily on a par to UK chains like Pizza Express or Prezzo and by Scandanavian standards the prices are very reasonable. The most expensive pizza on the menu was about 15 euro.
The restaurant also offers glutten free bases for anyone with a glutten intolerence.

Visited here on New Year´s eve, the restaurant was not totally full. The food is average chain restaurant food, the kind you can have in other Amarillo restaurants also. The staff of this restaurant was very friendly and helpful. They kind of forget our desserts but we were immediately compensated and desserts were free of charge. Would return because of the great staff.

Took a portion of 10 chicken wings (hot) & coleslaw on the side. Wings were tasty but actually could´ve been hotter. Portion of 10 was more than enough even though I was very hungry. Next time I´ll order only 5!
Coleslaw was the best I´ve ever eaten.
We shared one Mexican fried ice-cream for dessert and it was plenty for two, tasting wonderfull!
Waiters were very nice and smiling and helpfull. Made the experience even more fullfilling.

Makea is a nice spot to visit with delicious treats. Visited with friend for afternoon latte, local ice creams and Finnish cinnamon rolls.
