Don’t bother wasting your time and energy here particularly if you are only in Volendam for a short period. The restaurant was only around 40% full yet the staff took far too long to order our food and didn’t acknowledge us. When we ordered the food, we then waited 40 minutes!!! Ridiculous considering the restaurant was not at all busy. We needed to leave and as soon as we stood up, they bought the food out. The food itself was less than average. Because of this we didn’t get time to explore Volendam. Wouldn’t recommend.

I really liked this place. Simple and pretty authentic. It's also extremely reasonably priced.
The menu is good, in fact some Americans at the next table asked the beef could be be left out of their tagliatell with beef tenderloin (?) the waitress merely asked if there was anything else they would prefer as a substitute for the meat! I was most impressed. All our dishes were terrific, the vegetarian calzone my mother-in-law ordered being particularly good.
Due to an unexpected heavy rain shower we had to move from the Terrace indoors. This was accomplished efficiently and with a minimum of fuss. Full marks for that too.
The restaurant is connected to a bruin cafe, Cafe de Gevangenpoort, also a nice place for an afternoon or evening drink.
We'll definitely return if we're in the area, apart from anything else I want to try the rest of the menu.

Restaurant Posthoorn, part of Suitehotel Posthoorn is located in two beautifully restored buildings from the 17th century. Upon entering you will experience the richness of the Golden Age, and you can feel the influence of prominent guests of yesteryear. Guests such as Queen Juliana, Admiral Dirksz, and Napoleon Bonaparte, stayed in the distant past in the Posthoorn. In our restaurant you can dine exclusively in a modern classic style environment with international allure. Here summers in appropriate weather conditions to enjoy an aperitif and then dinner.
We ate at The Posthoorn and enjoyed its fabulous tasting menu. Every course brought oohs and aahs of appreciation as each new combination of taste, texture and flavour arrived. Service was solicitous but far from po-faced or overly serious. The sum total of all our...MoreThxsssss..!! hope to have you as our guests again.... and don't forget that we also have a beautiful Boutique hotel .... kr Marc

The restaurant is an excellent choice to eat when vising the beautiful city of Edam. After walking to the narrow streets and Canals of the city, Dam is waiting for you with great comfort food. The place atmosphere is serious and food is great!

You are welcome 7 days a week from 11am in the morning for coffee with homemade pastries, a surprising lunch, a cocktail or a good glass of wine. From 5pm for dinner, with next to the well-known 5-course Secret Menu also a wide and attractive choice from our à la carte menu with dishes in the format appetizer. Come see and especially taste and experience!
We were so impressed with our evening at this wonderful place, that we went back again for our second night in Edam. Henk and his staff explained the "secret" menu to us, which we were delighted with. We had the meat option on the first night and i went for the fish the second night. The atmosphere/service was first class on both evenings, and the food was both immaginative and delicious. We left feeling full and satisfied. We will definately return on our next visit to this area. Thanks guys for two memorable evenings.John and Alex xx

Cafetaria Kippie is no ordinary snackbar. Equipped with a complete salad bar we can cater to every salad or Sandwich you feel like eating! Or come try one of our own-made snacks or pasta's, they are truly delicious! Kippie serves tasteful - and healthy - food for an honest price.
Tomato soup, salad, and a drink for about 10'euros. Good tomato soup. Good variety of salads and sandwiches. Courses are prepared on the moment. Take-away is possible. Definitely a very good quality-cost ratio.
Mostly frequented by locals, tourists are quite a few.
Staff is mainly composed of youngsters who are kind and helpful with the Dutch-written menu.
Definitely advisable for a quick and tasty snack or meals.
