Cosy and Family friendly restaurant in the centre of the town with a beautiful view over the lake. Classic and modern food in a lovely mix. Great Terrace for the summer and in winter a fantastic apres-ski spot. Open from 10am - 12pm and kitchen open from 10am - 10pm. In the 2 upperfloors bars with great apres-ski and in the evenings livemusic and DJ#s playing music from earlier days until now. Bars open from 4pm - 3am.
Drank in the outside bar and upstairs bar most evenings so decided to eat at the restaurant. Unfortunately it took an hour from our starter and complaining until our main course arrived. It was explained this was due to a large booking prior however we...MoreVery sorry for your inconvinience we ll try to improve to the next time and we hope you will return. Sven Lindgren

Situated in one of the lively side streets, this week pizzeria did not disappoint. We dinned in it twice in a 6 day stay. Both only had the pizza but they were fantastic, service was good and the price was very reasonable. Worth a visit.

Had a lovely meal at steinerwirt yesterday evening. Bjorn our waiter was very attentive and knowledgeable about what my husband who is gluten free could eat from the menu. Essentially nothing was a problem. Anything could be adapted. Great price and great service. Thank you

Visited Alm for lunch and was lucky to pick a day when there was a band playing. Food was good along with the service although there was a big problem with some wasps which made sitting outside a bit uncomfortable.
The views from this alm are great which look across Saalbach and the surrounding Mountains. Plenty of activities for children and there is a museum at the end of the garden which was very interesting.

In 1999/2000 the Alte Schmiede was built to be an outstanding mountain and ski restaurant with 400 seats, which is open in summer and winter. It belongs to the hotel Krallerhof. In 2008 the Alte Schmiede was extended to accomodate up to 550 guests. Decorated with different awards, the Alte Schmiede is certainly one of the most unique restaurants in the Mountains. The focal point is the gallery with a mill from 1885. Lovingly restored, this unique mill still grinds today. Moreover there is a Ski Museum in honour of Sepp Altenberger sen. Both, the AsitzBrau and the Alte Schmiede, are ideal starting points for hikes and mountainbike tours. Furthermore, it is a popular spot for Concerts, events and tvproductions.
Went here for lunch with my wife. Our orders were taken with my wife's arriving 15 mins BEFORE mine. I expect the food to come all at once...a normal expectation. Staff were rude also.
The final nail in the coffin was the fact that even though smoking is only allowed in sectioned off areas...there was a guy happily smoking at the bar...which is beside were the Seating for food is....and area with kids...
My suggestion would be to go to "hendi fischerei" about 20m away...or somewhere on the slopes.
They have a bit of a monopoly but that is no reason for these items i mentioned.

The interior of the restaurant is alpine-mountain syle elegant...you feel the authenticity right as you enter the restaurant. The menu is sophisticated, truely a gourmet kitchen..with creative touches and also traditional style...Wiener Schnitzel was excellent and so was the classic dish Pinzgauer Kasnocken with roasted onions. The fillet of beef wrapped in truffle could be recommended for those searching creative tastes. In Zell am See it's a gourmet experince for sure. The service was attentive and professional.

Viehhofen is a small village down the valley towards Zell am See away from Saalbach and Hinterglemm. It is blessed with few facilities apart from a small but well stocked shop and good ski-hire/school centre.
As we were staying in a self cater apartment, most evenings we ate in, but on the last night we visited Dorfstadl, as it was within walking distance and offered a reasonable choice at fair prices.
Frankly, we could not have eaten better for the price, and the atmosphere was just right, with a quiet but warm welcoming austrian feel about it.
I ate a pork cordon-bleu which was excellent, my son had fish (perch..white flesh not unlike cod), and my wife tenderloin pork with mushroom sauce. each dish came with a generous supply of vegetables.
We chose the House White which was an austrian dry, and at 10 euro for a litre, you cannot beat that!
The sweets were delicious.
We last visited Viehhofen and Dorfstadl 13 years ago, and would not hesitate to go again.
