My husband, two children and I had dinner at Olckenturm with my husband's German colleague and his wife. We were greeted in both German and English by the young waitress, who also gave us English menus and helped to explain the dishes. Initially we were seated outdoors, which was pleasant, though the bugs were a nuisance. However, we moved indoors as a thunderstorm settled in.
The restaurant is actually built into part of the old city wall, which was pretty cool. It was not very busy (we were there on a weeknight), and we had very attentive service. Our dinners were all fairly traditional German meals--quite heavy, and a bit saltier than we prefer. More vegetables and some lighter options would have been nice, but I suspect on a cold winter's night, this fare would really hit the spot!
All in all, a good experience.

I visited this restaurant with some friends. We enjoyed Gourmet Greek cuisine with Fine Greek organic wine. The owner Kostas was very friendly and service was excellent too.

I visited for a lunch time meal with some work colleauges, and it's safe to say we were umimpressed. We were forced to stomp our hooves in frustration for over an hour whilst we waited for our food to arrive.. wish the chefs had quit stalling! As we only had an hour lunch break during work, we really didn't have time for all that horsing around. And I must mention at this point, the restaurant was by no means foal, there were many free tables. Overall, I believe we would have received better service if the horses had waited on us themselves, and if you ever end up at this restaurant... hoof it!

The café Waffestübchen is tiny, but offers a wide range of delicious waffles that are all hand-made in the kitchen on ground level. Guests climb the stairs up to the first floor where they find a lovingly decorated room with a low ceiling and comfortable chairs. If you're lucky you catch the seat on the sofa! The staff is very friendly and offers advice if you need help choosing a waffle on the menu. I highly recommend a visit!

This place is special not only because it has a diningroom room that was decorated with much care and a pretty outside area, but because you can also buy many if the ingredients of which the dishes are made. There is also a shop upstairs where one can buy extraordinary gifts.

To avoid eating at the highways, we just took an exit. Unna, as my girlfriend is Catalan we also could choose for duo or tres
So drove to centre and ask some locals for restaurant. We ended in Canape. Not a beautiful site or great athmosphere, but we were hungry. Italian restaurant (like almost everywhere in city centres of small German cities/villages. Ordering two Alt beers, mixed grill, steak, gnocchi with gorgonzola and salads. We had to wait very long. Plates were big and food was okay. Not exquise at all. So average place. Price / quality good (just paid €51 for all)

We were guests at the wedding of a very dear friend in Holzwickede, and adjourned to Unna for the wedding party supper. Alimentari is small, home-like and cozy. The appetizers were voluminous and delicious, pickled onions, Parma ham, prosciutto, melon, lox, shrimp, artichokes, u.s.w.; the fish course was superb, and the main course (small pieces of filet with an almost sweet red wine sauce) was over the top. The wines were excellent, and the hospitality was without equal. The owners and wait staff treated everyone like family, and it was truly as though we had stopped by a friend’s for a late dinner. If again in Unna, I will certainly be back to Alimentari.

The food and service were excellent. The fresh, warm rolls were tasty, my prosciutto ad melon was fresh and delicious. For the main course, I played it safe and went for the lasagna. I was very pleased. Food was prompt and prices are very reasonable. Located just a few kilometers from Kamen, this little gem of a restaurant is well worth visiting.
