We went to the Pickled Octopus after seeing rave reviews on several websites.
We weren't disappointed! We booked the day before and were fortunate to get a table by the railing which give an uninterrupted view of the Tuross River & lake. It is in an old boatshed and the restaurant section is perched high above the water.
The wait staff were friendly and not "in your face".
Our waitress told us that all the produce is locally sourced.
Bee, the owner is a lovely host and super friendly.
Well, the food! We had spring rolls & salt & pepper calamari to start.
The spring rolls were crispy with a filling of amazing ingredients.
The Calamari was firm but not rubbery and spiced to perfection.
We had Pad Seuw with beef which was amazing.
The seafood curry, which we had seen recommended, was cleverly spiced to be tasty but not "curry hot"
The serving sizes were just right and we left more than satisfied.
I'd like to stay in Tuross to eat my way through the menu!

Bodalla Dairy Shed cafe and Cheese Factory is a family run business and makes delicious ice cream, yoghurts & cheeses made from their award winning low heated and unhomogenised local milk. Come bottle feed the dairy calfs, feed the alpacas and enjoy great coffee and good overlooking the idyllic farm view and dam. A must visit!
We went to Bodalla Dairy Shed Cafe to have a coffee and taste their cheese. They only had a few cheeses to taste but they also had ice cream to taste.
I really liked the Stockwhip with Tasmanian Wild Pepperberries so bought a 95g package which was $5.50.
The staff were friendly and the cafe has a nice retro atmosphere with Seating inside and out.
The kids can have the opportunity to bottle feed some calves.
We had our coffee which unfortunately didn’t live up to expectations.

Couldn't wait to be here. Upon arrival the view is just magnificent. Heard a lot of this place online. So it was a must visit. The fish and chip are to die for and the burgers were pretty awesome. Staff were great. The set up of this place is really nice as its at the lakes edge. They do sell fishing items too. A place to relax.

We visited after a cycle ride to Potato Point for a late breakfast and found a shaded table beneath the trees in the lovely garden where vegetables, fruit trees and ornamentals create a charming rustic and relaxed ambience. This morning I ordered the herbed mushroom, spinach and poached eggs with h sourdough bread and I was ecstatic from the first mouthful. The balance of peppery herb flavours and the textures of a perfectly cooked meal had me in raptures. There is an extensive menu and we have enjoyed meals here before, but if this appeals to you at all, please visit before they eventually do sell up and move on.... which I selfishly hope never happens!

Tern Inn - 'Proud to serve the South Coast's finest fesh produce'. Modern Australian Cuisine - Menu created from fresh local produce - Tuross Oysters, Narooma Swordfish and Bream, Barrabaroo Beef, Southern Highlands Lamb and Pork, local seasonal vegetables
What a joy it is to not be disappointed when finally going to a restaurant you have wanted to try for so long, I did not get the owners name but judging by previous reviews I'm guessing it is Nick and Diane, I would also like to commend young John who I believe was New but much like the owners they all made you feel most welcome, relaxed and like they were there just for you.
We all had great meals that just kept getting better with each dish that arrived, I think we have found our new favourite dinner spot whenever we visit Tuross Heads in the future.
Don't be tricked into thinking the Pickled Octopus is the only good dinner venue down here as the Tern Inn delivers big time on quantity for food and service.

My husband and I visited here during holidays for lunch. The cafe is very understated and at first I was hesitant to eat here. We ordered coffee and Nachos both very nice, well presented and fairly priced. The service was friendly and attentive. The outdoor table area leaves a bit to be desired. I would visit again.

We had takeaway from here twice while we holidayed in Tuross and we happy both times. We had fish and chips the first night and although crumbed fish wasn't on their menu they were happy to accommodate our order and make it up fresh for us. On another day we had Hamburgers and potato scallops and they were excellent also.
The staff were very friendly each time.

We stopped off at the Bodalla Bakery recently for morning coffee whilst passing through Bodalla. It is always a good spot to have a coffee break. There is inside and outside Seating available and the inside shop area of the bakery has a great selection of various homewares for sale. Very comfortable Seating is provided in the inside part of the bakery. There are freshly baked items available to enjoy with your coffee.
