What a pleasure to take this short boardwalk over pristine clear water and beside mangroves, bushland and water. From the boardwalk you can see huge fascinating stingrays, tiny fish and a variety of water birds like pelicans, cormorants, gulls, Terns, herons and egrets. The boardwalk links to the Nar1 coastal walking track so you can continue your walk for significant distances if you like. The boardwalk itself and ends where fisher people clean fish and rays, fish loving birds and seals often gather and a short distance from a shark netted enclosed swimming area.

Montague Island Nature Reserve is a small island located on the far south coast of New South Wales, a short boat ride from the picturesque seaside township of Narooma. Originally just the location of a lighthouse, today the island is a very special place and home to 12,000 Little Penguins, thousands of Sheawaters and up to 2,000 Australian and New Zealand Fur Seals. During the whale migration season in June - July and September - November humpback whale sightings are frequent. The NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service manages this award winning nature reserve. Visitor access is by ranger guided half day tour or overnight conservation tours.

Gorgeous piece of coastline and the standout is the "Australia Rock". Great views all round and just a lovely place to take a walk. We weren't here that long, so unfortunately didn't see any seals or whales... but that is probably dependent on time of day and time of year.

To reach Glasshouse Rocks, we parked at the cemetery (see photos) We then walked down a well-worn path to the beach. I was sure we had gone the wrong way, but we met a local lady on the beach, she told us "yes, that's how the locals get here"
Once on the beach, turn right, the Glasshouse Rocks can be seen in the distance. Keep walking until you reach the house which is almost on the beach. Then walk back along the beach. There is a road, but it's on private property.
Well worth the effort, this is a stunning place. Wish we could've stayed longer.

It is easy to find the Narooma Visitors Centre, just look out for the lighthouse just past the caravan park on the flat area of Narooma. We visited there recently to pick up some local information regarding the Eurobodalla and Sapphire Coast areas. We were interested in the small display of lighthouse material and information on the sign boards. There is plenty of parking and public toilets are available on site.
