We 'happened' to stop in Tienen, tired after a long drive from England. We found the Bed & Breakfast and they recommended this restaurant. It was wonderful. A welcoming atmosphere. Tastefully decorated with colourful paintings and antique hats & gloves. Helpful staff (who translated the Flemish menu!) Delicious food - the steak was so tender and cooked to perfection; the sauces scrummy. Yes it cost more than we would normally have paid, but it was worth it.

My boyfriend and I expected more of this restaurant. We were looking forward to enjoying a nice romantic evening and some good food. Alas, the reservation we made, got booked on the wrong date by the restaurant. I received e-mails from the restaurant confirming the date I had written in my calendar, so it was there mistake. We drove all the way from Leuven to Tienen to learn there wasn't room for us. We had to return home with empty stomachs and eat take away food instead of the meal we were looking forward to.
We rebooked our dinner (we had to, because we used a gift voucher, otherwise I wouldn't have returned), expecting some kind of compensation for the trouble we went through. We didn't even receive a free drink. Very disappointing and not what you would expect from a restaurant with such a reputation.
The food was also disappointing. Not that it was bad, but I found the dishes unimaginitive. The venison wasn't that great and served with very basic vegetable and potatoes. Was expecting something more out of the norm, to be honest. The skrei with shells was fine, but again, a very basic dish. The desert from cherry and dried apple was a more complicated dish, but I found it to be a bit of a mismatch. All in all the food, of course, was enjoyable, but no dish could really wow me.

We came here for a lunch before an appointment in Tienen based on TA reviews. Very friendly family run cosy restaurant, excellent service and very tasty food. Overall a very sound experience, including speed of service. A definite recommendation in that part of Flanders!

Delicious amazing food. Great ambiance and service. When there you should try the carpaccio of beef, roulade of chicken with Brussels leaf and truffle, and homemade dame blanche. We absolutely loved it. The personal was very nice and we definitely would recommend our friends and family to visit the Bart De Bondt.

Delicious Thai food for a small price and a lot of choice! And the people running the restaurant are so friendly!
In the beginning it was take-away only, but since some time it is a restaurant as well. And we love it to enjoy the food and relax there after a day of work!

We went there for a couple of times, and never had any complaints, the owner is Siccilian, and has kitchen staff from Italy. He often provides special disches for reasonal prices. Not a fancy chique restaurant, but always good food.
The service of busy day's can improve, and when you are sitting at the back it can get quite hot (near to the kitchen). Ti be honest, I prefer the food in this restaurant more then the more expencive (read overpriced) restaurants in this town (Like the El Parma..)

Tienen centrum is basically the Grote Markt, and which has the 2 musea, a church and many restaurants. The restaurant has a covered Terrace, a nice interior. The service is very nice and attentive, so did they come bring fresh fries without us asking. The food was nice, but nothing special, and maybe a bit overpriced.

My work colleague and I found this restaurant on a sunday night after a long journey to Belgium.
As someone else has said about the scampi - Large peeled prawns - I ordered the same and found something contrary, the garlic was lovely and as per the menu description they were in a bowl of Garlic and herb butter which was excellent.
We ate there for the next two nights of our business trip and each meal was excellent, we had steaks with mushroom sauce or garlic butter which were cooked exactly as required and the starters were spot on.
It is a more upmarket restaurant and is reflected in the prices but the staff were friendly and attentive, even the chef came out for a chat and to offer recommendations from the menu. Language barriers overcome with a smile and patience.
I think that they are more for the quieter evening meal type of client and not really geared up for a massive onslaught so I'd recommend going there from about 9pm onwards.

The food here is delicious!
I had already eaten here several times before but this time was the first time we ordered to go.
There was unfortunately a mixup with our order and the order of another customer, but the manager correctly handled the situation and we remain satisfied customers.
Thank you for the great service and delicious meals!
