Thebes (/θiːbz/; Ancient Greek: Θῆβαι, Thēbai, Greek pronunciation: [tʰɛ̂ːbai̯]; Greek: Θήβα, Thíva [ˈθiva]) is a city in Boeotia, central Greece. It played an important role in Greek myths, as the site of the stories of Cadmus, Oedipus, Dionysus and others. Archaeological excavations in and around Thebes have revealed a Mycenaean settlement and clay tablets written in the Linear B script, indicating the importance of the site in the Bronze Age.

Semeli restaurant is a new place opened in Thiva in Nov.2009, but the name was already known because of the five years old activity of their cuisine (as take out, Delivery and party/catering organisers).
But today, the next step forward has be done: Finding free their next building, the owners took the opportunity and united their previous store, making a very warm and cosy place where you can dine and enjoy their home made food.
This new restaurant operates daily (except Sunday) as from 11 in the morning till 6 in the afternoon. Furthermore, it's open every Friday and Saturday night, offering some extra dishes and an open bar. Food is known to locals. Greek traditional cuisine, with a modern touch, such as Vegetable Milfeig with Philadelphia cheese, Baked Potatoes, Meatballs in red sauce and many salads, as the mains follow like Pork in the oven, Chicken dishes, Burgers, Pasta etc. At the noon, you can also find Pastichio, Moussaka and many other cooked choices as lamb and chicken. The taste was very good, everything was perfectly presented and fresh. Prices are nice! And the decoration and style is really excellent, something between a classic trattoria and a youth trendy place to be, with a wonderful bar in the middle of the store, where someone can enjoy a full bar drink.
Selemi, is a place that not only offers an alternative to the Thiva's scenery as enviroment, but also gives a more classy sense of dinning, far better than the tavernas and grill houses... Plus: The easy parking of the area and their wine and beer list. Absolutely worths the visit.

Zhthos is an all-day restaurant-cafe-bar, located in the central pedestrian street of Thiva. Our menu covers a variety of salads, appetizers, main dishes and desserts. Customers have the opportunity to taste a selection of 7 drought beers, various Greek wines -especially local ones- coffee and drinks.
This is probably the most beatiful place as restaurant in Thiva (stone walls, nice lighting, long bar to enjoy your drink). It offers real restaurant dishes, it's clean and it's the perfect escape from the classic souvlaki or old-sheep chops that all other taverns in the area serve... It is located on the pedestrian zone in the center of town, has a few tables for outdoor dining, but it's really nice inside

Luxurious, clean, serving well grilled meats and traditional cuisine. It's usually reserved on Saturday night, for weddings. Not very close to town center

Barbeque is a central located restaurant for "meating" points!!
I am not sure whether the food is Greek (they do offer an excellent kokkinisto), American (their burgers are supposed to be very good), or a mixture of various culinary traditions. Whatever it is, it is truly very very good! I had the tenderloin with graviera (Greek cheese) sauce and it was very good: meat tender, sauce not too dominant, rice with a smoky sauce that worked surprisingly well together with the cheese-sauce. The staff are very friendly and attentive. Plus: one can sit outside under the shadow of trees. Give it a try, you will not be disappointed.

Few metres from the centre of Domvrena village (20' from Thiva) is "hidden" one of the best pizza you'll ever taste.Awarded twice in Canada. Handmade dough & pizza/spaghetti sauses. Happy decoration and atmosphere. At summertime you can enjoy your drink and food surrounded by basils and scent of night flowers on the outside and in winter inside under the view of Karaiskaki's castle.
The service is very good and the people are so kind and care about your every need.
The food was very tastefull and the portions are quite generous. It's quite hard to leave without a full stomach and satisfied.
The atmosphere is relaxing, colourful and simple. In the summertime the tables outside are a great touch.
My overall opinion is that you won't be dissapointed if you choose this restaurant for your meal.

Based on TripAdvisor suggestions, my husband and I chose Ladokolla for lunch "al fresco" in September after visiting the new archaeological museum. I had the rooster stewed in wine sauce (not tomato sauce) with Greek egg noodles. The wine sauce was bland, as were the soft noodles, which seemed to have been simply boiled with some bits of grated carrot added. The rooster was moist and could have passed for chicken. The grated "kefalotiri" cheese made my otherwise flavorless meal worthwhile. My husband had "souzoukakia" (meatballs in red sauce) with French fries, which he said were okay, but not special. We also had two large beers. This restaurant is located among some others on the car-free pedestrian portion of the main street in Thiva. Like other outdoor dining experiences in Greece, there was a stray dog begging us for food and we had to swat a few flies! Our meal came to about 20+ euro. We noted that we were charged 2 euro for bread ("artoskevasmata", for those who may not otherwise know what this means on the bill) and 1 euro for an obligatory large bottle of still water (from the island of Crete). Although we might try this restaurant again, we weren't too impressed with our first dining experience in this small town.

We travelled by train from Athens to Larisa, and after some exciting days back by car. A stopover at this really busy coffee shop, just about 90 km before Athens, is almost a must. Terrific coffee and all kind of delicious fresh prepared sandwiches are available, as well as a little buffet with Greek dishes. Here, one may find also delicious sweets for take-away, ready packed farm products like olives, chees and others. We were surprised to meet in rather cold February, a weather-proofed 5-biker strong "Vespa" scooter group. The staff is very polite and helpful and, comfortable Seating space to relax before 'take off' again is available.

It seems that I finally found the BEST souvlaki style food in town, because all other (that I order from all these years are medium to bad rated!).
Very tasty, very clean!
I have tried everything from their (not long) menu and one-by-one was very tasty (souvlaki, pitta-gyros etc). Big hit is also their Burger. They also deliver.
Absolutely recommended (for greek fast food)
