If you're looking for simple Italian cooking - this is a great option in Terni
Hand written menu, great local cheeses and meats, varieties of pasta, gnocchi all explained by the waiter in terms of where they're from in Italy, the recipes behind them etc.
Great, simple food with friendly service...

We arrived after dark, and Letizia came from the restaurant to help us find our way. We had an incredible meal! We are vegetarian, and they prepared us an unbelievable soup which just led to the most amazing dinner. Breakfast was impeccable, more than we could eat (although we tried our best!)
Our only complaint was that we only had one night there.

Umbria is lovely green quiet and landlocked. The latter fact means to have fresh fish you have to cook at home or go to Lazio, Marche or Tuscany. In Umbria, you will find meat, pasta and if you are lucky, something green. Most people do not learn to swim or eat fish.
Every rule has an exception - L'Antico Borgo has excellently executed fresh fish and seafood done by a Sicilian chef who should be given some sort of Medal by the Province so that he stays forever.
In a kind of obscure village between Terni and the Cascata, the restaurant is unassuming but pleasant. The modest space belies the excellent cuisine. We had the Insalata Fruta de Mare, which was both generous and fresh (exceptionally tender calamari and pulpo) and sublty seasoned. For main courses, we had the Tonno Tagliata- which was sushi quality tuna steak cooked on the outside and but preserved rare with and Spigola alla Griglia, a large portion grilled so to achieve the scoring and firmness without overcooking the delicate flesh.
Complementing the excellent fish was a wine list that picked up a large number of great Sicilian wines that you hardly see outside of - well - Sicily. We had the bio-dynamic Vivero Sasitere Etna- a perfect citrus wine for the cuisine, light and wide awake.
All this splendor for the cost of a run of the mill grill restaurant. In toto, it is as good as renowned (starred) places in Central Rome that cost twice as much.
Now, I can save myself a drive and stay in Umbria for a regular appointment with the sea.
The highlight is the fish

La Molina del Duca Cesi lies outside Terni but is certainly worth the trip. A good kitchen and an excellent wine list at friendly prices, a stylish dining room and kind staff is all you need for a wonderful evening. We visited this place twice and enjoyed it both times. One remark: when you order an aged wine please ask it to be decanted, in our case they forgot to do that while the wine (Castello delle Regine, Selezione del Fondatore, Sangiovese, 2003) appeared to have a deposit. The last two glasses were unfortunately not OK which was a pitty.

Wonderful lunch. Very friendly staff, especially with our very limited Italian! Food absolutely wonderful. They did pasta with tomato sauce for the kids, no problem. Grilled trout was brilliant and tagliata ( grilled steak with rocket salad) was exceptional. Very reasonable with lovely wine. We have had many great meals in Italy but this has to be one of the best - if not THE best. Oh .... And the views are stunning too!!! My 9 year old son said this is the best restaurant he has ever been to and he has travelled a lot( praise indeed!)

Ate there 2 times in 3 days!
Yummy! There is no menu..they simply tell you what they are offering. Extremely reasonable. All 3 of the wait staff we encountered were the nicest people you ever met. They went out of their way to explain the dishes. All locals. Can't wait to return!

We were driving from Rome to Peruggia and on our way decided to stop in Terni to grab some lunch. City is not touristy and there were no many places opened on Tuesday. Crunch was one of them and it was indeed amazing and totally unexpected experience. Creative set menu for lunch, original design, friendly and helpful service, very reasonable prices. Too bad we did not try full menu (there is only set menu available at lunch), but since the place was full with families of locals it gives you a hint that the place really worth to visit. Thank you!

It is a great for a quick lunch or a sweet crepes, super inexpensive, service is fast and efficient, the staff is always nice, and they have outside sitting. The only downside is that they do not take cards.

Non ho potuto godere della bella vista esterna dal locale perché era buio ma sicuramente meritava. Locale gradevole, pulito e spazioso sia dentro che fuori. I gestori molto cordiali. Molto molto bene
