Established in 1987, Big Al's is celebrating it's 30th anniversary in 2017. We pride ourselves in serving quality Canadian cuisine in a friendly, child-friendly atmosphere.
Sign on entrance said Lobster so in we went. We feel this was only a draw to get you in because there were 3 things on menu with lobster: club Sandwich, lobster wrap & lobster roll. Club Sandwich said "generous lobster" so we ordered it. For $19.95 we were really disappointed. It was an ordinary club Sandwich and you couldl hardly taste the lobster! Rip off for sure. The menu had many other good items though. Just don't fall for the lobster. Service great. Desert of apple pie & ice cream awesome.

The renovated train car, set next to an old renovated train station, is just such a beautiful setting. A trip to the past. It was fun to enjoy a meal in a rail car. The service was friendly. Excellent home made tea biscuits instead of rolls. I ordered the mac&cheese with lobster, it was good but did not have enough lobster. I can overlook this because the setting was so charming. My husband had the soup of the day, a local lamb and vegetable soup and it was excellent! Great salad also. Very friendly service.

There seemed to be a lot of local people dining there so we decided that would be the place to have breakfast. I had an omelet and my husband had bacon and eggs. Both breakfasts were excellent. Service was great and the prices were reasonable. They had some great looking cinnamon rolls and other pastries. Will try those the next time!

I am someone who would eat pizza everyday as its my favourite comfort food. In today's world pizza has become a culinary art form. Not here! Crust is doughy, sauce boring, too much cheese and no local fresh ingredients. Unfortunately there is no where in Tatamagouche to get a decent pizza☹️

This facility is licensed and is also a sports bar/bowling alley. Greco pizza is known throughout the Maritime Provinces of Canada. Staff is friendly.

We had the pleasure of visiting this bakery as we were looking for a homemade pie (not a commercial pie) and saw their sign on the Sunrise Trail. Their location was only 3 minutes off of the Sunrise Trail and we are so glad we decided to visit the Country Bread Basket Bakery & Café. We left with two different pies and chocolate cheesecake cupcakes.
This bakery is definitely on our list of 'to do's' and 'where to eat' in the area. There is even a small gift shop and there were very unique fire pots for sale too. The next time we visit we want to try the lobster roll (if in season), haddock chowder or chili too.
The bakery was less than 10 minutes from downtown Tatamagouche. This bakery also received high praise from locals that we spoke to about it.

We stopped in this café for a lunch. I picked it based on tripadvisor’s review and was not disappointed. The food was really good. We were a group of 6 people and had a variety of dishes including, butternut squash soup, beef stew, pasta, breakfast Sandwich and ginger pear chicken with rice. The only dish that was kind of unusual was a chicken, due to combination of ginger pear, cranberry, seeds and chicken, but again, it was a personal perception, some other people can love it very much. I guess because we were a group of 6, we waited for a food for about 40 minutes, but that was OK with us as we were not in a hurry. I would strongly recommend this place as the owner and waitress are both very friendly and sociable and the food is good.

After disapointing coffee in (Captain) Pugwash a few miles earlier we were delighted to find a cafe with an expresso machine. As a bonus the building also houses an artisan chocolatier. The two make a great comb. The cappuccino was excellent, nice sized cups too. The cafe also sells a selection of rolls filled to order and a selection of home made cakes, etc. The date slices can be recommended.

Subway restaurant is a national chain and as such have standards that the public can expect when visiting. Not overly busy when we went in at lunch time for a couple of take-out subs to eat on the boat. Service and cleanliness (facility is brand-new) were good. It's difficult to exaggerate the sandwiches/facility as they're pretty much all the same nation-wide and this location met our expectations.

Drove here from the city to check it out and pick up some beer from the most excellent local brewery. Its sort of a food truck with a covered outdoor dining area. Pricing was ok, about $8-$12 for most items. Food was good but not the best Mexican I've had and not very spicy even with the jalapenos added. Would be nice if they had a better hot sauce selection than one type of generic supermarket stuff. Overall worth a try if you are in the area but I wouldn't make a special trip.
