The setting on the beach front is beautiful. However everything else was disappointing. Service was erratic at best. We had to ask 5 times to 3 different people to get a beer when we arrived.
The menu is promising - however sadly it doesn't live up to expectation. We had the dorado carpacio style to start, which was nice enough, and the home made bread is very good.
For mains we had the chilli relleno and the tortello of lobster and broccoli. Both were very disappointing - and tiny portions served with no sides at all. The chilli relleno was stuffed with potato which tasted a bit strange - and ok we didn't expect it to come piled with sides Mexican style but something would have been nice! The lobster tortello is basically a pastry/empanada. It was over-cooked and tasted more like salmon than lobster. It was also very small for a main course when served without side dishes. If it wasn't for the bread we would've left hungry - and one of us is definitely not a big eater!!
The wine was also terrible. The only option is a glass or carafe of house- it was the most expensive we had in Montezuma and the worst tasting by far. Normally we would order a second but not here!
So overall very disappointing. Would be nice for an early evening drink.

Place came highly recommended but our meal was just okay. I had the seafood spaghetti and all of the seafood was overcooked and pretty tasteless. The staff were great and the service was excellent--just wasn't thrilled with the food. And seemed just a little spendy for what we got.

The Restaurant for Cabinas H&B on main road in Tambor. All dishes excellent for our group. The catch of the day with shrimps, "just delicious". Likewise the grilled chicken with a flavourful sauce. Vegetables cooked to perfection -- try the grilled zucchini! Nice presentation of plates with some artistic flair..AND the chef came to check our opinions. Nicely done!

Puggo's Restuarant is located just off the beach in the small town of Montezuma. The owner is a world traveler who has found her home in Costa Rica. Her menu and its flavours are a direct reflection of her life experiences. From the fresh local fish to the slow cooked osobuco and moussaka, you can taste the love she has for her food. She uses a range of ingredients, from local organic chocolate to spices she brings directly from her home country of Israel. Puggo's also has a fresh sushi bar which specializes in a range of asian inspired dishes using locally caught fish and prepared right in front of your eyes. The atomsphere is friendly and relaxed and the multilingual staff is happy to recommend not only their favourite dishes but Beaches as well! .
I live near Montezuma, and since reviewing this restaurant 6 years ago, it has changed hands. The new owners have really taken the place in the right direction. The food is extremely good, especially their Mediterranean dishes (my favorite is the falafel with hummus). In addition to the Puggo's regular menu, in the evenings there is a sushi chef on site. I highly recommend the Maya Roll. As far as I know, they only serve house wine (red/white) & 2 kinds of premium beers plus soft drinks/juice.
The restaurant is in the center of Montezuma in a wooden hut-style building with really cool hanging lights. It definitely has a nice ambiance.

Our family dined at Ylang Ylang for breakfast and dinner for 3 days while we stayed at the resort. We also enjoyed lunch and app/drinks for happy hour as well. Best food in Montezuma and perhaps best from our whole Costa Rica experience. The setting is absolutely incredible - beautiful beach nearby, shade when its hot, open air to the sky when its not. Food was delicious, healthy and fresh. Cocktails were yummy too. Plenty of options for adults and kids. Staff was also incredible - especially Patricia! Can't say enough about Ylang x2!

Just few steps from the beach “El Cristobal” gourmet-restaurant offers the freshest seafood, international cuisine and native Costa Rican dishes which are prepared under supervision of our Chef. Furnished with beautiful Cristobal wood, the restaurant features a casual, yet romantic setting with a breathtaking ocean view. Aperitifs, cocktails and after-dinner drinks are served at the Tango Bar.
My husband & I really enjoyed our dinner here. The food was great & beautifully presented. Service was attentive & everyone spoke English (which was helpful as our Spanish is non-existent!). The atmosphere was amazing - colorful little fairy lights twinkling in the trees, waves pounding on the beach, latin music playing all made for an exotic holiday feel. The only downside was the TERRIBLE road you had to travel to get to the restaurant...rough, dusty and narrow - not for the faint of heart!

Located in the heart of Montezuma with a great outdoor patio. We serve vegetarian, vegan, sushi, pasta, chicken, fresh seafood and much much more...
We loved the garden area in back, although the river smell is nasty until you get used to it. We enjoyed the Namaste spring rolls and the chicken Sandwich. We went again and totally enjoyed the chicken burrito (lots of flavor without rice or a lot of beans). Then we enjoyed the happy salad with the shrimp and mussels fettuccine. All wonderful. They do not serve 'meat', only chicken and seafood. Friendly staff.

Flavor and wisdom of traditional italian cuisine....<br>selection of cheese and cold cuts, home made bread and wood-fired pizzas.Fresh pasta, lasagna, veggie fettuccini, sea food spaghetti.<br>Tenderloin, ribeye steak and pork from BBQ,balsamic vinegar<br>"tagliata" with arugula and parmesan, grilled chicken and home made desserts...<br>WIFI-parking area-botanic garden-safe for children
We had dinner at Tierra y Fuego. It is a simple Italian restaurant outside Montezuma at "Las Delicias de Cóbano" (some call it Montezuma Hights which sounds good but is overstated).
The pizza from the brick oven was delicious, the salad and the pasta as well. We had a beer from the local Microbrewery that was much better than Imperial or Pilsner. The panna cotta for desert was excellent, the chocolate salami we would not order again.
Take enough cash they don't accept credit cards.

Tasty food prepared with local ingredients. If you don't like it, you don't pay - that's our guarantee of quality.
We turned up on spec one evening and thought maybe the restaurant was closed, as there were no other diners....next surprise, the man I addressed in my carefully-rehearsed Spanish, was definitely struggling to understand me.... of course, he is a newly-arrived Canadian! But what he lacks in knowledge of Spanish he more than compensates for with his culinary abiities. He whipped us up a fresh guacamole and delicious home-made tortilla chips to keep us busy while he prepared a variety of fish and chicken dishes for us, all equally delicious. His young son came out to socialize with us and was absolutely delightful, entertaining us and amazing with his laid-back approach to creepy crawlies and snakes etc which seem to be his main interest in Costa Rica! We had a great meal and would definitely have returned had it not been our last night in the area. Highly recommended!
