Just outside of Budapest, this town is full of churches, galleries, museums and cafes. Szentendre was settled by Serbians fleeing from the Turkish occupation in the 17th century. Because of the Serbian influence the town has the Mediterranean feel.

Following Tripadvisor we‘ve chosen this place in Szentendre for lunch. First impression is that there are real professionals at work. 6 people were running the place and understood each other without many words. I like that. Beside excellent service they have a nice selection of...MoreThank you, we appreciate all feedback and try to learn from it. We truly hope that you'll return and enjoy the same experience that keeps bringing back guests for 40 years to Aranysárkány.

Langos is essentially quick fried dough. It is flattened and usually presented as a pizza shaped flatbread, generously rubbed with fresh garlic, with salt and pepper to taste. More modern versions add other toppings, mostly shredded cheese, but in essence, it can carry any topping. This is poor man's food, but delicious and it hits the spot.

On the main street of Szentendre, cosy small town with great artistic traditions, at medieval times a reach Serbian traders town on a North-South trade road. Beautiful location on Danube river band. Plenty smal restaurants and suvenir shops. Labitintus is a nice, elegant place with elegant and well expierenced servicemen. The traditional hungarian fisherman ' s soup is very nice, tasty and enough spicy. They have a nice collection of local wines. Next time see You there ...

It is not the first time we eat there and of course will nit be the last. We really enjoyed the food the service and the view. In winter they have an indoor cozy terrasse. The goulas soup was tasty and the salad. We do recomend this place in Szentendre.

A relaxed Italian close to the river, offering a nice view on the Danube. We went on a warm summer evening, had some starters, pastas and wine. The food was tasty, the pastas were the right condition and the sauces were well done. The pizzas looked delicious too. Service was very friendly, fast, and casual.

Szamos Marzipan is a household name in Budapest and vicinity, so it was natural for us to step in to their Confectioner’s next to the Marzipan Museum. I had one of my favourites, the marzipan potato, which is different from the German “Marzipankartoffeln” (Chocolate Dusted Marzipan Potatoes) in that the Hungarian variety has some pastry a kind of chocolate cream filling inside. This time it was not as good as I had expected, the pastry was dry, the chocolate cream too sweet and the marzipan covering a little bit sticky. The caramel ice cream that my wife had was excellent. Service at the table was polite, albeit a little bit slow, at the counter (for take away) it was not nice at all.

The restaurant offers Goulash cooking lesson for group. It's fun to do something different yet learning something useful. The food is okay but the restaurant interior is a museum itself with many displays and ornaments all over the walls and ceiling.

We live in Szentendre and we really like to go to this place for big meals, the food is delicious, they always serve the same thing but it is really tasty, I recommend to order a big plate with little portions of everything (combination of meat, cheese and veggies)! they used to have a very nice cheese cake (New York style) but I am not sure if they offer it anymore. It is a restaurant worth to visit!

When it began to appear quite hopeless to find some decent dining opportunity in this once showcase for communist tolerance towards free arts, finally we found this promise of Caribbean cuisine. A bit peculiar place for such a promise, but competition was really poor. At first glance it stood out because: no 60' gipsy music targeting retired DDR intelligentsia, and probably the only place in town that is able not to exhaust kitchen stench to the service area.
The chef over delivered on our expectation. Excellent to very good food all way through.
Though it is not the Key lime pie that will make us return. Received two pieces of this in the region so rare delicacy, without a bit of lime taste, and no lime filling at all. When complained the answer was so typical for the post-Soviet culinary era: nobody complained before ie nobody complained before that there is no lime filling in the lime pie. Hahahahahaha...... The in-house pastry cook could not come up with a better excuse alike: the lime was sold out in the Keys or a hurricane destroyed the harvest.
Still the place is worth a visit. It would compensate for the disappointment the megatonnes of kitsch and gulash nostalgia hanging around the place may cause.

This restaurant offers a broad selection of mostly Hungarian dishes, including soups, stews, fish, pork, veal, Turkey and game as well as an excellent selection of fish soups. The list of desserts is quite exciting ant the prices are moderate. It is a few blocks north of town, right on the Danube, which offers good views of the river.
