Great barbecue joint in Waingapu. Highly recommended. I would like to review it
I came here, basically because i was in need to find a place with wi-fi which they have and works also pretty well. A part from that, the food is nice at very reasonable price and the staff is very kind. Absolutely suggested...

Warung Gula Garam offers variety of Western and Asian cuisines with authenticity. We also offers Italian-style pizza. Warung Gula Garam can be the first place to visit in Sumba, with location near Tambolaka Airport. Enjoy Sumba ambience in our restaurant.
I had a cup of Sumba Coffee, it was good, really good.
The sate ayam (chicken skewer with peanut sauce) was average.
They have both Indonesian and western food. Maybe the last one worth a try on my next visit.
I love the atmosphere of this restaurant. Blending Sumba unique decoration with western style architecture.
The staff were friendly and helpful, but as we sipped our coffee, we just kept wondering what kept our sate so long to be served? Hey, we were starving

Commitment to always use the natural, fresh and healthy ingredients our chef does not add food flavor enhancer ( MSG ), replaced by using lime, salt, brown sugar and herbs..And for drinks we offering a healthy choice such as Stevia sugar, brown sugar, honey and organic palm sugar ( gula Sabu ). The oil we used is Olive oil and canola oil. For grilling and barbeque we used pine tree wood that create scent and taste more tasty and rich of flavor. Breads and ice cream are homemade from our kitchen so rich in flavor and ensure the cleanliness and health of the products we serve. Mostly our vegetables which used is organic vegetables from our farm, as well the white water fish ( cat fish and Nile Tilapia.). The other fish such as grouper fish, lobster, prawn, squid, and octopus we catch by our staff near from our resort and keep it freeze for least 5 days.
so when i was staying at Pondok Wisata Pantai Cemara for my middle camp, i ate there every day. I'm just gonna say that i'm very amazed by the service and the food. The service was very pleasing and the food taste amazing. I ate the Buttermilk fried chicken and i loved it from the very first bite and it became my favourite food. It taste better than Mc Donalds fried chicken. In El Suba resto, they also serve different types of coffee. I'm amazed because i didn't expect the food and the service to be this good because it's Sumba. But i wouldn't say El Suba is good. I would say they're Excellent.

we had plecing kangkung, oxtail soup and 4 ons Sumba grilled fish. The plecing kangkung was different from that in Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara. The taste was average and spicy.
I love the oxtail soup, it was a good warm dish for a dinner. it tasted really good.
The fish was so-so. The spices covering the fish reminds me of the Balinese sambal matah. The fish was fresh, But, still, it was too pricey and It was the most expensive dish we had.
You should try their ginger tea (teh jahe) it was gooooodddddd.
the location is very strategic, just 5 minutes drive from the Tambolaka airport.

Heard of sliced bread well leslie's retuarant is the best thing tocome to Waingapu since sliced bread. There is no s;iced bread in Waingapu. The place is clean to Western standars. The food is not the cheapest, but the greatand large in portions . The bakso is exceptional Value for money. It is not the cheapest in town but is the b
In the morning I eat at the market, where rrts do a tango , for my fav fish dish and very strong Sumba coffee, but in the evening my heart goes to leslies' and then I retreat with a few beers ( not bought at the restaurant but locally for 30k, to the roof top of the merlin. the ends of the earth lie in Savu Raijua. Stay in in small native hut when you hit the roof beams till your scalp bleeds and the neighbours say, Sakit Mr Cornelis, but that is not what I said

Fancy deco, good food, and Lucy, the owner, is realky nice and helpful.
I m living in Sumba, and for me it s the best place to have a drink, meet friends, get info about Sumba. If you need a driver, or anything else, Lucy and her husband will help you. Free and good wifi. Take away. Don t miss it !

They had Indonesian food (i.e.nasi goreng
or Indonesian fried chicken) and also Western food (pasta, pizza, etc). The taste is average but the place is nice.I visited there at the midday. It was windy and refreshing when you visit the restaurant before I continuing the journey to East Sumba.
