Passing by this town from looking at the volcanic crater at Dieng, going through dangerous winding and steep roads, we stopped by and had a try at this historical old restaurant.
We arrived ar 1600 hours but the restaurant was closed for recess.
It reopened for dinner at 1750 hours.
We ordered seafood sapo tofu, seafood kang kong on a hotplate, Hong Kong "Lumpia", prawn omelette and seafood fried bee hoon.
Most of the dishes were alright except fried beehoon. The fried beehoon was extremely salty and the beehoon was hard.
The other dishes were also on the salty side but still acceptable.
One point to note: we followed the google map and was directed to the wrong location.
It's better to use the name of the road and the name of the restaurant as the guidepole, asking the locals instead.
The credit card machine was not working either. So if no sufficient local currency at hand, be sure to ring and check the staff before patronising as the prices were on the high side compared to the others in town.

We are on our way back to Jakarta, it was a long road, so eating here was helpful for us. The place good and clean enough during long weekend. The taste average for us Indonesian.
I hope they will cook better. The price was average not to expensive but not so cheap. GBU.

This is a really good restaurant in Sukoharjo, a small town about 12 km south of Solo.
They do a roaring trade in Indonesian-style fried chicken served with rice and vegetable side dishes. There is no menu, just point at what you want. Most of the diners are locals, but a lot of people from Solo come here too. We have eaten here a few times and have never seen any other foreigners here. The building is of timber construction with long trestle tables and bench seats, and has a pleasant small town atmosphere. There is no air conditioning, just fans for cooling. It's quite clean and there are toilets.
There is a new branch of this restaurant a few km north, on the right side of the road from Solo ( we haven't tried it yet).

This restaurant use to be a mix cuisine restaurant few months a go. But now they have changed and now they cook the best steak in Solo city, in my opinion. And they focused at western cuisine such as steak, pasta, and pizza. Never try their pizza but their pasta and steak are definitely improving in taste, and even better their price is so much cheaper now! Highly recommended!

Location:
It lies in the north of the town to be entered via a sidestreet. Get yourself a map from your stay. Its around the corner of the krishna hotel.
Restaurant:
Its a pavillon style open place surrounded by a spacious garden. Both are well maintained and the place looks nice.
Service:
the service speaks decent english, out of the regular order times you have to show that you are in need of service, they rarely stop by.
They take some time with the preparation of drinks, so that might reflect when it would be full, but this was not the case when we were there and it wasnt too long.
Food:
The food is above average. We had nasi goreng which was one of the best we had in Indonesia, a chicken soup that was very good and some dessert. All were really tasty.
Price:
The prices were moderate which rounded up the positive impression we had. Especially in comparison to the ASIA cantonese restaurant we have been the day before.
Would i stay in Wonosobo again i would ignore the other places and just go for this one.

The soto they serve is the local specialty. The ayam (chicken) is good but go for the sapi (beef) excellent! On the table you have several snacks you can take and pay for later. This place is worth going to. Place is clean and people are friendly. Make sure you have an empty stomach cause you don't want to stop eating!
