Stow-on-the-Wold is a small market town and civil parish in Gloucestershire, England. It is situated on top of an 800 ft (244 m) hill, at the convergence of a number of major roads through the Cotswolds, including the Fosse Way (A429). The town was founded as a planned market place by Norman lords to take advantage of trade on the converging roads. Fairs have been held by royal charter since 1330 and an annual horse fair is still held on the edge of the town.

Managed to squeeze in on Mother's Day despite not having a reservation. Nice atmosphere and staff professional yet relaxed and personable. Decent menu and could have eaten anything off it but went for mainly fish choices. Dishes all good. Only issue I have is with the prices - this part of the world is rarely cheap but I do think £12.95 excluding service for 2 medium sized scallops scallops (served hot in "seaweed butter") is pushing it even if they were nice. Had some "crevettes" which to me mean large prawns (unpeeled) and these were not as large as they should have been for the price. Oysters were £3.25 each and you can get 6 Lindisfarne Rocks for £18.50 at Scotts in Mayfair...
Didn't leave a tip (wasn't given option when paid by card) which I felt a little guilty about as the service was very good, but was rather shocked at the total bill.

We have enjoyed many visits to this pub in the past as a couple or group of friends.
Sadly the standards of food and service seem to have declined and the dining area also seemed less busy. We found that the roast beef Sunday Lunch suffered from meet that could only be described as chewy. Two of us had the meet rare and this was average to poor but those who had medium struggled.
With no enquiry to see if all was well we commented when someone came to clear our table, she giggled and disappeared with the plates without any resultant action to our comments. When we commented to the barman who came over to take our dessert order he gave us one free dessert.
Needless to say we will not be hurrying back.

We roast all our own beans on site, and we are passionate about the coffees, teas, milkshakes, smoothies, hot chocolates and cakes that we sell. We don't serve food as such, but feel free to bring in your own Sandwich, we don't mind at all. Good dogs always welcome....
We came for breakfast and coffee. We were surprised by the multi-level tea and coffee rooms. there are multiple floors with small, cozy rooms to sip your beverage and have some privacy. The coffee was good and free wifi.Hi Meagan Thanks for your review Ali and the team

Central Stow, the Talbot is the perfect place to pop in and have lunch or even a relaxed evening meal.
This is a welcoming pub, which is great if you have a dog. There is a stack of games in the corner and the staff are friendly, particularly to the doggies. Overall we had a great evening here. The one and only downfall was the lack of vegetarian options on the menu. There were a couple of nice sounding starters (mushrooms on toast and Brie with cranberry) but the only veggie main was a haloumi salad. This consisted of a large bowl of salad with some slices of grilled (slightly burnt) haloumi and balsamic glaze. The haloumi soon lost its heat and so was cold and chewy in no time. Stow pubs aren’t great for veggie food so I was grateful there was an option but perhaps a simple veggie burger and chips might have been better (not all vegetarians like salad!)

Serving food daily from 12 noon to 9.30pm (9pm on Sundays) The Kings Arms offers traditional classics along side more complex dishes always using fresh, seasonal ingredients. Specials board changes daily with a separate Dessert and Childrens Menu on offer. Our Sunday Menu changes weekly always offer a choice of Roasts alongside a selection of other dishes. Seating is available in our downstairs pub area or in our upstairs restaurant with views of the Market Square.
We stopped two nights in the Kings Arms in room No8 the hotel was right in the middle of Stow with a few private parking spots around the back, so very convenient.
The downstairs consists of the kitchen a pub that is mainly focused on meals although the "kings own" real ale was the best beer I tasted in Stow,. Upstairs were bedrooms and a more formal dining room, the dining room did have a few sofas allowing residents a Seating area. We didn't eat an evening meal in the restaurant but the full English breakfasts was first class, this was slightly let down buy the support act although cereal and fruit were available I've seen it done much better.
Our room No8 was up another flight of stairs from the restaurant (note of caution: very steep and narrow, defiantly not suitable for the less mobile) room No8 was not ideal for someone six foot tall as the door and ceiling were very low. The room was fairly quiet at night and reasonable nights sleep can be expected.
Altogether the Kings Arms was an enjoyable stay and I'd recommend with just the above notes of caution.

Moved into Stow and we were eager to try out this little resturant, kept our fingers crossed that it would be good....and it was!
We have returned quite a few times already.
The staff are lovely and the food is consistantly good.
It does get very busy of a weekend and they are a small resturant so i really do recommend booking!
Look foward to our next meal there

We are an owner operated traditional tearoom. Much of our menu is made here on the premises, including Soups, Dressings, Sauces, Jams and of course all of our cakes and scones. We make everything from basic ingredients, not pre prepared mixes. Our coffee and tea is Fairtrade. The coffee is freshly ground and we use loose leaf tea, with the exception of herbal teas. We aim to source our produce locally as we believe in supporting local suppliers where possible. We also provide a wide selection of Gluten Free meals, including homemade Gluten Free scones, so a cream tea can be had by everyone!Vegetarian options are always available. We are visited by many customers time and time again, along with strong support from locals who live in the town. Regular hours are 10am to 4.00pm (5pm Saturdays). Please note we are closed on Sundays and Thursdays.
Lovely lunch, the tearoom was full all the time we were there, with a great turnover of customers. My daughter had spicy vegetable soup with brie and cranberry Sandwich and I really enjoyed my jacket potato with coronation chicken and a lovely salad.
Always good service and a friendly atmosphere. We shall be back next time we meet at Stow, our midway point.
Congratulations, Jeanne M.Watkins.

Huffkins is a bit unusual. We are an independent family business with our own craft bakery and a heritage that stretches back to 1890. Established in Burford, at the heart of the Cotswolds, by Mr Titcombe our breads and cakes were originally delivered by donkey and cart. Given the impracticalities of donkeys we have modernised some things over the years - but we still bake everything by hand. Our bakers work through the night to create everything from the bread for our sandwiches to the fresh cream cakes in our shops. We believe very firmly in sourcing ingredients locally wherever possible.
The place could be better, we came for breakfast and whilst it was lovely, the ambience of the place is just bland and not something that I’d have expected in a place of natural beauty and a conservation village.
Due to the snow, there was some melted snow under our table and the woman in charge seemed to be really concerned with telling the waitress that there was a spill hazard under the table and this was a huge health and safety issue....absolutely mental. There was a little bit of water off the soles of my boot at the foot of the table. Not a slip hazard at all, how anyone could have slipped in this minimal amount of water is crazy.
I’m a very senior insurance underwriter, I kind of know what I’m talking about....and don’t order about the staff in front of customers, it’s not something we want to hear.

Lucy's Tearoom is a traditional english tearoom and coffee shop who pride themselves on high quality, local produce. From home cooked all day breakfasts, to delicious light lunches, to freshly baked scones and cakes, there is something for everyone. Sit in our bay window with a fresh coffee for a spot of people watching, or by our fireplace with a bowl of homemade soup, or in our courtyard tea garden with a 'Stow Special Cream Tea' served on a tiered cake stand- it is your choice!
What a treat. Four of us squeezed on to a small table for a light lunch on our way to the Pudding Club in Mickleton. Two of us had soup and a roll, one Welsh Rarebit on crumpets and a BLT toasted sarnie. We all agreed it was delicious and very sensibly priced.

We ate here as a family of 4 while on holiday in the Cotswolds. It’s an old building with modern decor - really nice environment.
Staff were friendly and helpful and we chose this venue based on an interesting menu and a separate kids menu - our kids are fussy so pizza/burger etc work well.
The food was interesting and tasty - sort of fine dining and it worked well.
I recommend this restaurant and would be happy to return in the future.
