Established in 1620 this place has lasted for a reason. Staff was attentive, polite and the food was quick to come out. Had the zum ochsen menu which was a nice beef soup, followed by a salad then melt I'm your mouth beef in a horseradish cream sauce. All for 14,50. The prices was right on for the quality of quantity of food. Enjoyed my lunch! No reason why this place won't be around 400 years.

Every once in awhile you come across an out of the way place that is just great and the Felsenmuehle is one. I was visiting a friend in St. wendel that suggested we go here for lunch. The ambiance is comfortable country furnishings in an old mill. The staff was right there to show us a nice table, bring menus (english is available), and point out the day's special. We both went with the special of Turkey medallions served with spaetzle (German noodles), cheese sauce, and salad. The lunch was well presented and excellent to eat and all for a very reasonable 8 Euros. Service continued to be very good throughout the meal. I will be back!

We arrived with our 2 year old and the restaurant was super friendly and accomodating. The food was delicious, and compared to many restaurants, they actually had healthy options on the kids menu which was fantastic. Would love to go back.

It's pretty much like a pizzeria, except it serves Flammkuchen instead of pizza. It has a great variety of choices, ranging from the real classic one to the modern ones, from salty ones to sweet ones. My friend and I ordered two and they were pretty much enough for a dinner. It's definitely one of the recommended restaurants if you're staying in St. Wendel!

I was a day in St. Wendel for my job and, after a walk in the centre of the town, I decided to stop in this restaurant. What attracted me was the atmosphere as an old cave: the tables are not so many, and they are allocated in the different rooms obtained in the "cave". I ordered a onion soup which was good and a typical dish that is a very very big sausage with potatoes. Ok for a quick dinner in a typical place without pretensions.

I really like the food there, they have one of the best salads I've tried, I always needed to tell myself to try something new, otherways I'd just go for the same salad. They always have nice "fod of the day" and the price is also good. Nice atmosphere.

This is a huge restaurant for a pretty small town center with loads of outdoor Seating and a good size interior on two floors. This makes it great for family outings and group or club get-togethers.
Service is pretty fast although interactions are kept to the minimal.
All over this area of Germany you will find many, many, many pizza and salad restaurants with a bar and a few entrees on the menu. Most of these leave off where Manin begins...
The pizza here is made fresh with a few different combinations of toppings not pages and pages
and remember; made fresh.
Salads here come with a twist; anyone can cut or chop raw veggies and throw them in a bowl but here they are cut and then lightly roasted to add depth of flavor to otherwise common fare. I had a fish salad which featured a nice salmon fillet and I chose the mango dressing which was very refreshing and a lovely departure from the same tired yogurt based dressing so many places serve. The portion was filling but not overly so. My companion had Angus beef and when asked
ordered it "medium" and it was served rare, perhaps the only misstep in the meal.
Bread is served in a small white draw-string bag in a woven basket with a small plate of olive oil, shaved parmesan and fresh ground black pepper which was a very welcome surprise. ( The bag could be dispensed with as it was a bit annoying to open and I imagine it will be extra labor to keep them spotless.) Along with the usual area beers they also feature a black beer on tap which is very good despite being a bit light on hops and slightly sweet to the taste.
Unlike other places, Manin also serves breakfast and turns out decent waffles that are close to what you would find in Belgium if you order them with chocolate sauce, ice cream or fruit and whipped cream.
