Everything we ate here was fresh, very tasty, excellently cooked and beautifully presented. Portions are generous to huge and service is friedly. We had salmon soup, mushroom soup and green salad to start, followed by a superbly cooked pepper steak and sautéed raindeer with pureed potato, lingonberries and pickled cucumber. We had to force ourselves to sample the traditional breadcheese dessertwith cinnamon cream and cloudberries, washed down with a cloudberry liquor and staggered back to our guesthouse happy and very full.

We have been here 2 years ago and were happy to stop there again this year when travelling north towards Inari. Our whole family loves their pancakes with very tasty moltoberry jam. Very friendly owners and a great view to the lake. When we travel again through Finland we definitely stop there again.

In search of kinda cheap eat on our trip we found this place, and good thing we did.
Restaurant was clean and not decorated idiotically.
Service was friendly and fast. Pricing was average from 7.5 to 9€
Servings were large, and most of all, tasty.
Will stop next time when in town.

The restaurant and cafeteria Wanha Waskoolimies (Old Gold Prospector) is situated next to Gold Prospector Museum in Tankavaara Gold Village, only 300 meters from the highway 4 (E75).
The milieu of the restaurant is extremely interesting. It is full of small details about Lapp culture, local nature, the gold rush and the good old days.
They serve a buffet breakfast, a lunch (a salad buffet and the main course as a portion of two choices) and a dinner from the à la carte menu. I loved my wild boar steak.
They also have the Wild West Saloon, which is open in the evenings after the restaurant is closed.
