The good news is that the piazza where the restaurant is was not affected by the 2016 fire. The road up to Kazaviti is a bit depressing but the village is mostly intact. The food is still good with great hamburgers, mousaka and probably the best imam on the island. Unfortunately, they did not have the slowly baked goat we like and the goat on the spit was a bit dry. The rice for the stuffing of the zucchini flowers was less than spectacular though we enjoyed it (and got addicted to it) in this very place in the past. They have a great traditional ice cream called caimaki which is dangerously good. We just do not understand what happened with all the friendly, English-speaking staff. We will go back anyway.

I ate in this tavern many times, during all my previous 5 holidays in Thassos. They really offer excellent dishes at decent prices. First, the fish soup that is prepared only when they get the adequate fresh fish required by their recipe. Their Greek salad, lamb chops, grilled or fried gavros, garides or sardeles are also a delight. The taverna is placed right on the seashore. Yanni (I hope I do not misspell his name) runs this place in a indefatigable manner, always ready to attend to his customers requests. I am looking forward to visit again this place, this year.
Tip: in rush hours, it is quite difficult to find a table and there will be some delay in placing and get your orders!

Don't expect a restaurant quality setting, Vicky's is like eating in your grandmas kitchen, albeit a Greek grandma. Very rustic setting with a family working as a team to produce absolutely delicious food. Fresh paper cloths on the table as you sit and a complimentary glass of Ouzo.
Michael ,who waits on the tables, has a warm and friendly attitude to customers, attentive, funny, but in no way overbearing.... A bit like having a family member bring a meal to the table.
The portions were huge, we ordered Moussaka, a small Greek salad and a portion of courgettes. The Greek salad was huge, we could have dined solely on that, more so because it came with half a loaf if fresh bread. The courgettes were thinly sliced and fried in a very light batter and were piping hot. We thought he was joking when he arrived at the table and said "1kg of moussaka for the lady and 1kg for the gentleman" but he surely wasn't!. The tastes.....well all I can say is that we weren't disappointed.... It was absolutely beautiful. The flavours were tongue tingling and it was cooked to perfection. Restaurant presentation ...no....rustic looking....yes....would I recommend eating here?.......definitely!
To cap it off he served a complimentary desert. Pricewise, excellent value for money n not expensive.

I was in Thassos Island (Greece) for 10 days and I tried different taverns and restaurants. This one has a nice location in the Mountains, in Agios Georgios village near Rachoni. Beside the fact that we were the only guests in that evening, in the tavern - the owner did not give us many variants for the menu. We tried what he recommended us - it was good but the quantity very small and the price almost double than all the meals we had in Thassos restaurants. The owner took advantage that he did not show us the menu with the prices and made us a huge price for what we have eaten. Pay attention to the prices if you want to eat to this restaurant.

Perfectly situated on the white sand beach, why not come and look at our extensive home cooked menu with all our fresh produce at great value prices? And should you need it, we would be happy to give you a lift back to your hotel
Two years on from our last visit to Skala Rachoniou and we're back again to Yiamas to eat once more at the table of our friends Giota and Visilli.
Authentic food at it's best and at VERY reasonable prices, (can't understand why another reviewer thought it was expensive; it really isn't).
Try the Summer Salad appetiser with calamari or souvlaki to follow and you won't be disappointed; but to be truthful you won't feel let down whatever you choose.
The view of the setting sun is truly beautiful, as it always is, and this gem of a place matches it.
Unlike another reviewer, we didn't have to walk past bins at the entrance...and one caravan with an awning pitched nearby hardly constitutes a caravan park; so maybe the reasons for "magnifying" those two concerns need to be questioned.
Go to Yiamas...and then go again. There is too much that is good to be found in just one visit.
Until the next time...afharisto poli
