We visited this restaurant with friends for a weekday lunch. We chose from the main menu, not the menu of the day. We chose Duck, which was delicious, cooked to perfection, and nice accompaniments, with a flavour of Quince jam, most unusual, but excellent. Puddings from the main menu-we all chose different but were all most enjoyable and creative.
There is a very nice ambience here, and the decoration of original paintings on the walls makes for a nice lunch or dining room experience. We will certainly be returning.

The dinner menu changed slightly on each of our four evenings. In our experience this is SO rare in English hotels where a set menu is the norm. The additional "Market Menu" also added more choices. The food was well cooked and presented. Chef was even willing to amend the main course (e.g.. steak and salade (dressed lettuce) and Guinea fowl breast and salade) instead of the cooked veg. and jus. The home made ice-cream was delicious and the cheese board was served from a trolley by a knowledgeable waitress who knew all the local cheeses. Great!

The chetnole is a country inn boasting a good range of real ales. we have a lunchtime snack menu for a quick light lunch as well as our full menu if you wish to treat yourselves. Our menu is complimented by a wide selection of wines. We have a lovely beer garden for those nice sunny days and log burners for the cold winter nights. Your four legged friends are welcome in our snug bar where they will find buscuits and a water bowl. Children are more than welcome and can eat off there own menu or smaller portions of some of the main dishes can be arranged.
Four of us came for dinner at this country pub. The welcome was very friendly, a small but varied menu and an excellent choice of wines which were reasonably priced.
The food was excellent and could not be faulted with excellent friendly and efficient service.
A great night and would highly recommend for a mid priced evening out.

Our second visit. We can unreservedly recommend this tea room / cafe. Fresh tasting food and good service. Although we did not try them, the cakes looked delicious and unlike many other establishments they were all covered up. This is always a good sign to keep airborne contamination at bay and of course keep the cakes from drying out. This should be the standard for all counter food. Excellent!

Tamburino Gold was established in March 2011 by Domenico and Miguel, teaming up in partnership to provide the ultimate Italian dining out experience.Domenico and Miguel had previously worked together in a popular Italian restaraunt for 8 years. With Domenico's great business skills and Miguel's devine cooking capabilities - joining forces makes the perfect combination. We are situated in an ideal location in the beautiful town of Sherborne, positioned with a great view of the famous Sherborne Abbey.Tamburino Gold is already proving to be a great success, providing superb food and a great level of service
Typical British Italian restaurant with loads of choice including some delicious specials. Very helpful and friendly staff and the service was great. We were a larger group and so naturally expected to wait for our food (not pre-selected) but there was no appreciable wait at all. Really efficient in all regards.
One minor comment is that it can get very noisy particularly since they play Happy Birthday very loudly when appropriate. Can be a little annoying at times on past experience!

Located close to Sherborne Abbey, The Sanctuary Coffee Shop can be found by making your way through the wonderful Chapter House Books, or there is disabled access via the secluded courtyard. Food is served all day and consists of cakes, slices and scones as well as light lunches. On offer we have soup, Panini, jacket potatoes and cheese ploughman's. Depending on the time of year, we also offer specials such as quiche and lasagne. Apart from Coffee and Tea, there is also a selection of soft drinks, smoothies and milkshakes available. The courtyard is a veritable suntrap and very popular with locals and visitors alike.
To find a "proper " seacond hand book shop is a joy and then to find it also has a tearoom made a great start to a holiday in Dorset. Sitting drinking tea and eating Dorset apple cake surrounded by piles of books is our "cup of tea" but might not be to everyone's taste (they don't know what they're missing). We do tend to spend time with our heads tilted to one side but the cake is so good, the staff friendly and the prices reasonable that we returned for more cake and books.

This picturesque rural Dorset gem dates back to the 14th century, when it was built to house the builders of the Saint Andrew's church spire. It maintains rustic charm and hosts original features of a thatched roof, beams, large fire places and flagstone floors - an old-fashioned village local with amazing views out over the rolling fields from the beer garden. The pub is now nestled in the heart of the Ernest Cook Trust estate that surrounds Trent village and which is steeped in interesting history. King Charles II hid at Trent Manor House during his escape to France. It was also the home of Colonel Francis Wyndham. The pub was brought into its prime in recent years by the amazing landlord "Buff Biggins" and his legend still lives in the pub now. We have a great reputation for Fine ale; with Camra and Cask Marque we always have Wadworths 6X along with 3-4 other immaculately kept ales.we have 5 star rating for our wonderful new bedrooms. and a special food award from the AA.Winners of the Perfect Pint award.A choice of alfresco dining with views over the fields or just outside the front of the pub watching people coming and going. The Barrow lounge is a wonderful relaxing area with an open fire and comfortable leather sofa. The conservatory has wonderful views out over the valley and garden and the far end of the bar offers a causal view out over one of the local farmer's fields and all the way to Nether Compton. The food compliments the surroundings with good local producers and suppliers in order to offer some traditional British food but also some of Chef Marcus Wilcox's own creations and twists, which can be from a simple snack of Pork Crackling with Apple Sauce to our own version of "Chateau Briand".
We lunched here two weeks ago. We were a party of four, Two chose the roast Turkey. They complained that the meat was tepid the Brussel Sprouts were undercooked and cold. I chose mussels cooked in cider. The mussels were over cooked and dry. Overall very disappointing as the pub is quite special. My advice get a better chef

First visit to Sherborne and this cafe was mentioned on various reviews. Popped in, midweek and had two filter coffees plus two cakes (cherry and marzipan and warmed treacle tart). There are two long tables where you can sit next to, or opposite people you’ve never met before or, small alcoves with two seats where you are fancy a wall, albeit with a picture on! Not the best Seating options we thought and our wooden table top, plus the one next door to us was just so sticky. Used the ladies toilet and that could do with refurbishment too as only tablet soap and such a tiny piece left on the side of the sink.
Cakes were ok. Nothing to write home about though - sorry - so we wouldn’t bother visiting again.
