We took the 12.5 Euro menu and should have stuck to that as it is reasonably good value bistro-style cooking. But my partner, always a sucker for Foie Gras had that, but this restaurant really isn't up to fine dining so it was a mistake. They served tinned fruit salad as the only pudding option. Fine for a meal at a reasonable price but don't go for the fancy options.

The unassuming décor hides top quality cuisine!
This little family run restaurant, is just outside the walls of Le Château Fort.
Don't bother looking at the menu; ask the proprietor what he would recommend as plate de jour. He will then present you with a dish made from locally sourced, seasonal produce, cooked in the traditional French style. Totally first rate! Team it with the regional craft beer selection and you are in for a treat. The bill is very reasonable, for a meal that at a more "up market" establishment would cost probably triple.

We booked the restaurant as our room was on the same floor for convenience. The restaurant was cold, I had to return for a cardi, no radiators on, no candles, no fresh flowers,no music, a very subdued atmosphere despite most tables being full.
Service was SO slow, 2 hours for 2 courses....really?? There is a difference between allowing time to elapse between courses and forgetting to clear our plates. We had considered the 3 course option but gave up after the main course and escaped to our room.
The food was very chefy, well presented but bland, vegetables undercooked and cold, fresh tuna was tasteless. The Amuse Bouche were ok. The waiters disappeared for long periods of time, we waited but in the end went to our room, totally underwhelmed by the indifferent service and food.

The most popular restaurant for the locals.
Good standard N.French cuisine served with Abigail smile. The best Angus steaks, duck, mussels etc. Great desserts and wine list. 10 minutes from the fort. Book if you can - very popular with the locals. Ask for the mussells as a starter without frites - great mussells.
Good wine list.

Why does my favourite restaurant have to be many hundreds of miles away?
The food is suberb, the service unassuming yet efficient, the whole experience is wonderful. We found this restaurant travelling back from Germany one year and it is the main reason we went back to Sedan.
Definitely have the cheese course as Toby McGrobie recommends and enjoy the well chosen wine list.

This little local restaurant in the heart of Sedan uses a black and white decor to match up with it's chessboard name. We were referred there from the Castle Hotel as the restaurant there was full. The service was warm and efficient. They were able to cater to one of our party's tricky dietary needs by being creative with the menu. There was not a bad dish served and the scallops in a cream chestnut sauce were spectacular.

Excellent indian food!
I've been travelling to India many times from north to south and still going there for work at least one time per month.
Indeed,...no big surprise, because the chef is indian !
but what's even more incredible is the warm welcome as soon as you enter the place.
The owner is incredibly nice!
I invited my parents and they were more than happy to experience this indian feeling.
Thanks again Hichem!

During a heavy thunderstorm we stopped hear for a quick coffee and some shelter and ended up staying for a couple of hours and having a pizza and pasta.
It is a very local restaurant and we were the only tourists in there, the service is family orientated and friendly and the cost was about 15 euros per person including drinks and a coffe.
Not a great evening venue but a good place if you are in the area for a lunchtime break.
