Pasteis de três tamanhos básicos e com todo o tipo de recheio e tempero. O tamanho médio custa em torno de R$ 27,00 e satisfaz plenamente duas pessoas. O de palmito e presunto é muito bom.

I liked the fact that their pizzas are thin crusted and I also like the theme of coming around constantly with different pizzas and then you just take a slice or two. An added bonus was the desert pizzas, there was plenty of variety and they were delicious.

This is a small bar where you can drink some beer (locals basically) and order some snacks. There is live music but when I was there the sound was not very good. Anyway, its a very nice place.

The restaurant has a good number of supposedly Mexican dishes. However, the Mexican spirit of the food is poor and the chii pepper is very weak. So, if you are expecting to find a real Habanero from Mexico (or even from Minas Gerais), it will be a deception.

On recommendation of a friend who had visited the Vera Cruz, we went there for lunch with another friend on our first visit to Santa Maria RS. Our other friend said try the chicken. Well, we did . . . after having to decide which chicken dish to try. I settled on the Filé de frango a parmesão, which was wonderful.
When we first arrived, we had to wait for our other friend and so were invited to sit and have am aperitif or at least something to drink. The waiter brought us some little warm rolls to enjoy while we waited.
When our friend arrived, we ordered. I was going to have lombo de porco from the churrasqueira, but the waiter immediately advised us that it would be at least 25 minutes. A good thing, as our friend had a meeting, and we couldn't stay so long. So both my wife and I ordered the chicken parmesan and our friend ordered a Supremo de frango, which was exactly that.
All the plates were filled to overflowing. Our filets were about twice the normal size in Italian restaurants and extremely tasty. They were accompanied by eve present rice, black beans, and a nice selection of salad items. Our friend has a huge amount of chicken, the same extras we had plus fried and fruit slices. We were stunned by thde sheer amount of food. Our friend took most of his home and said he could make two more meals of it.
The food was prepared extremely well, the servers were experienced and friendly and professional, making us feel as we had been invited to their home. I would recommend Vera Cruz to anyone visiting in Santa Maria.
The prices are not cheap, but are still quite reasonable for given the amount of food. An important note: Unlike many places in Brasil, service is not included, but if your experience is anything like ours, you should feel guilty NOT to tip at the end. Tax is included in the price.
The web site contains a complete list of items on the menu and some tantalizing photos, which look surprisingly like exactly what you will see on your plate when it arrives at your table. Vera Cruz has been operating since 1944, and after only one visit, I can easily see why.

You should probably not trust a foreigner opinion on the brazilian churrasco, but all my brazilian friend recommended this place and they told me it serves the best meat in town. My high expectations were not deluded! The meat was superb. The owner and the waiters are gentle and the place is kind of fancy. Recommended.

Comfortable surroundings, food tasty. There is no rodizio of pizza which has become so common in Brazil, however one can choice fillings and watch the pizza being prepared in a wood burning stove. Along with pizzas there is a la carte menu, at midday there is a buffet serving of food. Price is ok, but not cheap for what you are getting.

Located at a corner with two confortable floors, despite the space not so large. Pizzas are chosen only 'A La Carte' and the biggest one costs about R$ 50,00, with up to three flavors. Delivery is a very good option sometimes. Marguerita, calabresa and portuguese have been my choices, besides peperoni, but not so spicy...

We went there with a friend during a business trip, the bar is not so big but is very nice from inside, they have good variety of beers and the food is amazing, we prove the fish and chips, was good. The band that was playing was nice. Recommended.
