In downtown historic Pelotas, the Cathedral of São Francisco de Paula stands imponently. Its construction started in 1813, as a simple chapel. Later on, in 1846, the late Brazilian Emperor, D. Pedro II, visited Pelotas and laid the foundation stone of its construction. After construction, reconstructions and renovations, we finally have the Cathedral as it is today. An imponent building, with beautiful paintings on its walls and ceilings, done by the famous Italian-brazilian painters Aldo Locatelli and Emilio Sessa. Some critics consider that the most important paintings by Locatelli are those of this Cathedral. And finally, don't miss the image of São Francisco de Paula, whose sculptor is unknown, but is also considered a masterpiece of sacred art, brought into Pelotas from the also historic town of "Colonia del Sacramento", in the neighbor country of Uruguay. Enjoy!

The historic city of Pelotas, in Southern Brazil, has one of the oldest Anglican temples in Brazil, the beautiful Cathedral of the Redeemer. Inaugurated in 1892 and built in the gothic-celtic style, the Cathedral honors the faith of the first anglican settlers in Brazil. Its external ivy-covered walls change color at every season: pink-red in Autumn, brown in Winter and green in Spring. A true spectacle of nature. For this reason, it is also known as the "Hairy Church" by the local population. The Cathedral of the Redeemer surely deserves your visit and beautiful pictures. It's a jewel of religious architecture in Brazil. Enjoy!

The almost 100 years old Theatro Guarany is one of the landmarks of Pelotas, this historic town in the State of Rio Grande do Sul, also known as the "Princess of the South". The theater has opened its doors on April 30, 1921, with an Italian opera company performing "The Guarany", the most famous opera ever wrtitten by Carlos Gomes, the acclaimed Brazilian composer. 1500 people can be easily accomodated in this art-noveau theater, ornated with traditional indigenous motifs. Guided visits are available. Theatro Guarany still receives theater companies performing in Pelotas and is pretty much used, due to its size, to graduation ceremonies and conventions. Enjoy!

Assim como as demais praias do laranjal o mais legal é memso o passeio pelo calçadão. A atual administração, 2013-2016 fez coisas boas, melhorias.
