Lovely bakery and coffee shop serving a variety of pizzas and baked goods. Lovely for coffee and hot drinks. Take away pizza available.

We got stranded in Salen by chance (long story......) and wound up staying there for four days. During that time we went to Fagelboet twice - once for a fondue dinner and once for waffles. Both times it was fantastic. These two visits were the highlights of our stay. We went to several other restaurants there but none came even close in quality. It is in a beautiful, old house, very nicely decorated. The staff is extremely friendly, helpful and accomodating. Though not on the menu, it was no problem for them to offer me a vegetarian fondue. Like the one with meat my husband had it was absolutely delicious, the potato gratin was to die for and yummy sauces also are served as part of the meal. The staff spoke English very well and all were very helpful in translating the menu into English for us and explaining the choices. We spent a romantic and relaxing evening there and returned for an afternoon for waffles and coffee (try the coffee/chocolate mix - terrific!). We highly recommend coming here. Just make Reservations as of course this gem is well known and often booked.

The interior and the atmosphere in this really old place is outstanding and welcoming. The staff was also very friendly and professional, even though it was a busy night. The 5 course meal with different specially chosen drinks with each course was absolutely heavenly.

We had heard a lot of possitive comments about this restaurant but given it's size and the fact that they basically run a glorified buffet the expectations were a bit turbed down. We were happily surprised! Great meet, even better vegetables, sauces and butters to go with! The wine list is awesome!

We stayed at the hotel and had dinner there on one occasion. They have a limited choice on vegetarian main courses, but that is a general problem in Scandinavia as we found. However, the goat cheese with gnocchi and vegetables was very good, as was the rentier filet my husband had. Service was good, the ambiente cozy - no complaints at all. We can definitely recommend coming here for dinner.

Go on a trip with the ski lift in the Gustav slope in Lindvallen! At the top You'll find our restaurant Snögubben (The Snow Man) with fabolous views over the hillside. We're open seven days a week during the winter season for à la carte lunch. At least twice a week You can go up in our snow vessels and enjoy our famous fondue nights. During the summertime we´re open every day for lunch and the traditional Swedish Fika!

Visited gustavs for my boyfriends birthday. The restaurant is clean warm and inviting. As a vegetarian living in a rural part of Sweden options are always limited. But gustavs only offered one vegetarian choice the bean burger which unfortunately did not taste good. This is a grill restaurant and my boyfriend enjoyed his meal very much but I would love to to see some more options for vegetarians on the menu. Overall the restaurant is great it's cosy and a nice environment but the food is for meat eaters.

Meet Italy in Saelen! Italian food in a traditional way are slow-food when it is best.
I'm sorry but I was not impressed with the experience. The dinner started with the waiter wanting to explain how an italian dinner is set. We have been to Italy, so yes we know how it's working. He also added some small "jokes", but when you heard the same jokes when he was explaining to the other customers they weren't as funny.
He also stressed that italian food is light, but the food on our plates weren't - so I don't see the connection. I'm not complaining about the food, besides being a little on the salty side, everything was good. It was just the fact that the food was a contradiction to the whole explanation.
Must compliment the wines. They were really good (pricey but very good).
All in all, I wouldn't go back. It wasn't a bad restaurant, but there are other.
It was a nice dinner but it felt a little over-worked somehow.

We had fish-eggs on bread with cream spread and onions as appetizer, reindeer steak as main, and cloudberry dessert (with egg-whites?), all very good. The dessert was thicker and tastier than the usual whipped-cream version, although I would have preferred a little less sugar. Cozy atmosphere, lots of knick-knacks to look at, not too noisy. The wine list was very limited and undistinguished--can you imagine, a restaurant with no pinot noir wine?! Long wait for after-dinner drinks in the lounge, but they were good when they finally arrived (some were Irish coffee-type mixtures). Cheerful service.

We visited this place several times during the winter vacation, and we will keep returning. They offer an amazing pan pizza, they have a rich menu for lunch, but they also offer soup and salad for the not so hungry guests. The staff is extremely friendly and the restaurant is very well kept. Affordable prices.
