Food was excellent, restaurant was really nicely laid out with lots of space and relaxed decor. I really enjoyed the cheese fondue and the desserts were excellent as well. Only minor comment was that I might have struggled a little if I hadn't been there with a french speaker.

Very very very friendly and helpful staff. Pleasant ambiance in a cosy home-like environment. Top food. Very good wines. Parking is rather difficult, so just go a little bit up the hill for this.

Visiting St etienne for rugby we stumbled across this restaurant pre match. Welcomed with open arms and shared a table with a local couple as the restaurant was full. Chose the menu of the day and what great value and quality. Good house wine washed down the final cheese course. Ambience and service were first class- a real taste of France. So good we then had Sunday lunch and chose one of the set menus- again great food and ample portions. Chatted with locals and will hopefully return.

Very pleased that they rearranged tables to get our group of five seated. From the tapenade to the petit fours, the food was excellent. The asparagus soup (cold) was stunning although I couldn't detect the pistachio, others could. The poire de boeuf was perfectly cooked and the anchovy tapenade and fried aubergine were perfect accompaniments. The desert of red fruits with rhubarb ice cream rounded of a great lunch.
Had local bottled beer and pichets of local wine. Offered great value.
Overall wonderful experience.

Pizza itself is not bad but salty, service is very slow and there was unacceptable behavior: we ordered one kind of lasagna, and after 30 minutes they brought another one ,we asked them to bring the one we ordered . After 30 minutes we got another frozen lasagna...we refused to take it ( it was really almost frozen) ..but in the bill it was indicated that lasagna is ( free )...what it did mean ? I couldn't understand . We didn't get that ( free ) lasagna despite waiting for one hour ..what a shame ! It is not accepted even in (one star) restaurant. I don't think that I'll come back there again.

The trendy atmosphere of the restaurant should have tiped us off... We loved the gastronomic angle the Chef has taken to prepare the products. Precision and carefull mariage made his dishes fill our senses with pleasing sensations.

The restaurant " loco " has the official Label "Maître Restaurateur" "Maître Restaurateur" is a kitchen guarantee drawn on site by a team of catering professionals, with quality gross foodstuffs. Chef Jean- Michel ROMEYER creates every season a modern menu, tasty and sincere. the service is both smiling , friendly and very professional. For the decoration, the ambition is to hold together a certain modernity, Seating, lighting, contemporary artist 's paintings, and the authentic spirit of the place : slate, wood paneling, antique sconces ...
Restaurant was packed when I arrived. No free tables but I was offered a drink at the bar so waiting time was quite pleasant. I was served by Amin who was very friendly and provided professional advice on the local specialities. Food was just superb. I went for a steak with regional cheese souce. Local wine was matched perfectly. Outstanding restaurant point end. Thank you.

I reserved a table for 5 at La Java Bleue, online, prior to visiting St Etienne for the first time. We went on a Saturday evening, having traveled to the city from the UK for a sporting fixture at the Stadium.
We were all delighted with the friendly service and our steaks! The menu is straightforward, choosing breed, cut and how little or much you want the steak cooked. Between us we ordered the fillet, rump and entrecote and a delicious Cote Du Rhone. Cooked to perfection, in accordance with our individual requests. The fillet was especially superb. Great chips too. We also had desserts and I can recommend the large and gorgeous profiterole! The value was excellent.
It was busy with locals and had a relaxed but lively atmosphere.

A menu is over 40 euros for a very simple starter and a half of Magret as a plate. Dessert was simple too. Food was good but too expensive. They didn't have wine we wanted so we gave our second choice and they have been out of stock again. Keep your wine menu up to date!
