We sat outside on the patio while we waited for the restaurant to open at 7pm in the evening. (It closes for an hour between 6 and 7 we were told.) Had the fish soup and bruschetta for appetizers. Both very tasty. Ordered the daily fish special for two which consisted of three different freshly caught fish, grilled to,perfection, potatoes and vegetables. Nice glass of wine to complement the meal.

This fresh "Farm to Table" restaurant was around the corner from pur hotel so we ate here alot-- no drive so my husband and I could enjoy sharing a bottle of wine. My husband had the steak tenderloin 2 consecutively , it was so delicious (he did have a smaller portion the 2nd dinner). I had veal tenderloin and steak and both were outstanding. The 3rd night we had fish ( salmon and swordfish) . We were the fish was prepared from frozen but nevertheless it was wonderfully prepared.

Beach Bar/Restaurant
The location was amazing - right by the water, but the service was sub-par (waited a long time before waiter came by and was not attentive the entire evening) - they missed out on some extra drinks/dessert.

We had lunch here last week. Have never seen such huge steaks, nearly the size of the plate. The steak was good but asked for med done but very bloody, should have gone for well done. Couldn't eat it all so the waitress put the remainder in a food box to take away. You can have 1/2 portion which would have been better for me, which was only 10euros. Came with fries. Was very busy at lunchtime.

Located in the historic center of Ribeira Grande, the Merenda offers large rooms, air-conditioned , one with panoramic views of the Mountains , parking and modern equipment that allows you to make, among other regional dishes and pastries, in addition to meals light served at any time , including various sandwiches based on bread and pastry own manufacture . The motto " tradition and innovation" presides over its activity since 1981 .
We stopped here for lunch. Everyone got a bifana. The bread is fresh and chewy, delicious! I ordered Sao Jorge cheese which is traditional Portuguese cheese that tingles on your tongue. The French fries here are incredible, I like them better than McDonald's! After lunch...MoreThank you.

Confeitaria artesanal com vertente de pastelaria e chocolateria. Trabalhamos o mais fino chocolate belga e os tipicos produtos regionais dos Acores. Handmade confectionery, where it's work chocolate and pastry. We work the finest Belgian chocolate and the typical regional products from the Azores.
Oh what a find for a chocoholic. A proper choccy emporium. Eat chocolate and drink chocolate. The drinking chocolate here is really exceptional too.
There’s dozens of sweet choices and the smell of great chocolate is deliciously all-consuming. Of course I aimed straight for those with booze first, and then I picked those with nuts, then the passion fruit ones and the pineapple ones. All milk chocolates in my case.
All in all I got a few dozen to take with me and they’ve lasted me about two weeks. I noticed small chocolate towers too; these turned out to be brownie cakes dipped into their exquisite milk chocolate. So I got one to take away as well. I ate it within a few days, and it was superbly good. They also had little pots of dark, milk and white chocolate with little sticks stuck in them and when i enquired it was explained that they are to stir into hot milk at home to make a hot choccy drink. Great idea folks. The lady serving me knew her stuff too and she was courteous and helpful too.

In 1979, Carlos Tavares Silva, owner of Current Restaurant The SILVA opened a brewery space serving drinks and snacks on the ground floor and meals on the 1st floor. It was later attached a contiguous land, sealed the slabs and covered with criptoméria foliage, which was very pleasant to taste the dishes that made the Ribeira Grande famous: barnacles, limpets, chips and other seafood, stew or roast octopus, the birds at the time so appreciated, the chicharrinhos villain sauce, greaves of wine and garlic, among other delicacies of regional nature. Restaurant The SILVA stands out for its strong regional-oriented cuisine and seafood and fresh fish. Moreover, the vast majority of the vegetables consumed in the restaurant come from own production as well as some derivatives of animal origin (pork, sausages, black pudding). With the growth and sophistication of the clientele, the resort has been renovated and modernized in order to respect the meantime legislated taxes, and then born the current restaurant "The SILVA", which includes a brewery room (capacity 40 people) a room intended for daily meals (capacity 120 people), another smaller, more reserved (capacity 40 people) and on the 1st floor a room for parties (capacity 150 people). The establishment employs about 15 people spread between the kitchen, table / bar and cleaning. More recently, in 2013, it implemented an energy efficiency system with photovoltaic panels that reduce the ecological footprint and consequently energy expenditure.
We had dinner here on our anniversary and got a bottle of wine that was delicious. One of the staff came over and asked us about where we're from and started to relate in ways that were nice. We had a fun conversation. We ordered the muscles for an app and they were the best muscles I've have ever tasted...... EVER!!!
My wife ordered the cod and I had another local fish, blue something. They were both well prepared and tasty. We ordered a mint and vanilla layered with chocolate and it was really good. Reasonably priced, Friendly atmosphere, good food. Worth a stop!

This place was far more formal than we expected, being a farm dinner but having 10 pieces of cutlery per setting, but it was a pleasant surprise. Service starts as soon as you are seated and continues for the next 90 minutes with a real variety of options to challenge the palate. The appetizers and salad were very creative and flavorful and the entrees of ahi and beef were perfectly cooked, although one piece out of four of ahi was cooked medium for some reason. Wine selection was from the family vineyard in Portugal and ridiculously inexpensive. We actually liked the second-tier wine better than the third. The only let-downs were the soup and dessert. Soup was shockingly uninspired as green bean soup, which was very small chunks of what could have been canned beans in a thin broth with absolutely no garnish or seasoning. Dessert was blackberry ice cream, which was more like ice milk with little flavor. Those two gaffes kept me from giving a 5 rating, but the rest of the experience was 5+.
