As a holiday destination Germany has much to offer, picturesque small towns like Traben Trabech or Wiedenbruck with it's romantic half-numbered houses and medieval buildings, hospitable people, a diverse art and cultural heritage and traditional restaurants serving delicious regional dishes. This pub dates back to 1686 and was ever a meeting place in the centre of town for locals of all ages. A venerable building, great atmosphere and hearty food served by friendly staff is what the Fuchshohle is all about. The translation of it's name is another story for another time!

In one of Wiedenbrücks oldest buildings we offer typically spanish tapas based on our grandmothers recipe. We give a garantee that our meals are freshly cooked and regional products used. Also ask for other specialties not included in our menu.
The restaurant was empty (even if it was Sunday evening). The food was good, but in small quantities and the price was high.

We were with family in Rheda-Wiedenbruck, and were keen on a bite to eat.
Emshaus is a little drive from the center of the city, but entirely worth it.
Service is outstanding, and in English if German is not your chosen language. You can choose to sit inside, but they have a lovely view from their Terrace in the summer.
Food is excellent - our party had the duck and fish respectively. Both were superbly presented and each mouthful a morsel of delight.

Reuter was highly recommended by our local customers. When I arrived on a Thursday evening, I was a bit surprised, that the dining was mostly empty, there were only 2 other table of guests beside us.
To start, the young server seems to be quite new and inexperienced. We ordered an appetizer and then Monk fish as the main dish. The 8 of us was cramped into a table, that should have seated 6 people. we were rubbing elbows in a very hot weather, while the tables around us were empty. ( why couldn't they put one more table together, and gave us more room ?) Anyways, we waited a long time for the drinks, the appetizer was not bad, but, honestly, I don't remember what I had for an appetizer, if that tells you something. The monkfish was a major disappointment. From cutting into the fish, I could tell, that the texture does not feel right. And my first bite told me,, the fish was left unfrozen for an extended period of time, the fish meat is soft and a bit of mushy. It was not fresh or should I say, it might have been sitting for quite a while already. After the dinner, the waiter never came to give us the bill. We had to go to the cashier, to ask for a bill. Needless to say, the service was rather slow, and the food was disappointing.

We had the most enjoyable dinner in the Ratskeller Wiedenbruck dining room. The room itself is a most comfortable place to dine. The dark paneled walls are very welcoming. The menu offered many choices and everything we tried was very good. I had asparagus and veal cutlet (schnitzel). It was delicious. My sister enjoyed the filet of beef and she said it was good as any steak she has had in Nebraska. My husband enjoyed the wiener schnitzel and said it was also outstanding. We will certainly eat her again whenever we visit Wiedenbruck.

Wir waren mal wieder im Garda. Super Auswahl an Eis, sehr lecker. Vor allem kann man auch draußen sitzen. Freue mich schon auf den nächsten Besuch

Immer wieder lecker hier. Heute sehr voll. Scheint noch mehr Wiedenbrücker hier zu gefallen. Menge Stammgäste die hier immer wieder vorbeischauen. Die Jungs am Ofen immer gut gelaunt. Chef frisch verliebt. Das Grinsen im Gesicht ist kaum herauszubügeln. Pizza super, Salat der Hammer.

Wiedenbruck is an ancient and charming town which is more than a thousand years older than the USA. Located along the interesting, historic and picturesque Lange Strasse (long road), this is an ancient building and a trendy restaurant which may sound like a contradiction in terms but in fact it is a classic outlet serving fine breakfasts, traditional morning coffee and interesting lunches. Staff are friendly, attentive and helpful and prices are fair and reasonable. I tend to judge a Cafe by it's bread and coffee and Anker Villa rates well with the bonus being that it is in a perfect, picture-postcard setting.
