It is nice small restaurant. The owner of it Pasquale is very fanny and friendly. We had nice diner yesterday. All meal were delicious or extremely delicious. I am recommended this restaurant to visit. The reservation is needed because the restaurant is quite small.

The Esplanade Restaurant is housed in a beautiful luxury four-star Art Nouveau-style, on the Promenade of Viareggio.Near the sea and the beautiful pinewood, the restaurant Esplanade is the ideal location for receptions, banquets and elegant and romantic dinners.
I loved the tuna, gnocchi with chicory/speck/gorgonzola, spaghetti carbonara, salami platter, pork tenderloin with lardo, broccoli, lemoncella, red wines, croissants at breakfast, and most of all the wonderful service and special attention I received without fail. Molto Buono! Grazie!

Paninoteca specializzata in panini e focacce farcite
Tiny 'hole in the wall' Sandwich shop selling a wide range of fillings in warm bread. They also have drinks and a few sweet things. We went two days running and had substantial, filling lunches very reasonably priced.Service was lovely too. My partner adored the lardo & tomatoes combination and had it both days. I had ham and artichokes one day, pork and mushrooms the next - both delicious. There is hardly any room to eat there but you can take them away - there are plenty of benches to choose from nearby!

On any given Sunday when we are at home in Lucca after breakfast the discussion moves to where might we go for "a meal". Il Cavallino Bianca is one of those places that embodies for us, where one can enjoy "una buona dominica". The drive up to Benabbio from Bagni di Lucca is series of switch backs affording you a glimpse of just how remote these villages are not withstanding other villages on mountain tops are only a few kilometers away as the crow flies; operative word flies.
The ambiance is without pretense, warm, familial and efficient. Make no mistake it is a well run operation giving guests seasonal fare served up as if you are at home. The prices are absolutely fair. The quality is excellent and the menu is classic lucchese.
It does not disappoint.

We drove to this place solely due to trip advisor
We tried it. Ordered 3 pizzas.
After a total month spent in Italy I can state that the initial surprisingly negative impression was totally grounded.
First we thought that may be that is the way Italian pizza is. And we just don't understand something.
However, ALL other pizzas we tried were head-and-shoulders to those ones.
Even pizzas in 100 percent tourist spots.
It was better everywhere.
In many pizzerias where locals eat we found just amazing and cheaper pizza
Maybe they cooking for locals differently than for tourists. I have no idea. But that pizza (all three of them) was the worst ever we tried and it was just no way could be compared to many and many other Italian pizzerias serving just gourmet staff
It was a total disappointment

Our little group had a big plate of lard and salami with fresh bread and cold vegetable salad! We had our lunch outdoors under the tuscan sun! It was quite rustic but pleasant!

My parents and I grabbed a quick dinner with 3 different take away pizzas and it was a great deal. Quick service with pleasant workers and the meal was gone before I could take a photo of it. Not the standart restaurant type of Italian pizza, but still really tasty.

My girlfriend and myself found this restaurant on Tripadvisor. As there where no reviews in any other language than the Italian language it took our curiosity. Upon arrival, although it was a little difficult to find the restaurant. There was only a red building without any name, which we entered. We noticed the different tables which have a very nice, but simple, design.
The stone oven which you can see from every table gives a clear view upon the pieces of meat which are being prepared. After the cook/butcher prepares your piece of meat it is placed upon a carriage and driven into the stone oven. When the meat receives it approval from the cook it is placed upon a hot stone and being served.
In the meantime you have received some beans, vegetables and potatoes and some delicious bread which was also briefly in the stone oven. Did I mention there is no menu? There is meat, meat and meat.
Aside there is a nice selection of local wines (which are being sold at reasonable prices).
I can only highly recommend this restaurant, I travel regular through Europe and have visited several restaurants in the past seven years. This particular restaurant is in my personal top 5. If you like a decent piece of meat, you will regret it if you don't eat it here.

Very nice local joint for a beer, good food and great view of the Mountains. We were touring nearby and some locals recommended we go up to Colonnata for some lardo. Lardo is a local delicacy of aged prosciutto that has been cured in a marble stone with herbs. Sliced very thinly on a piece of bread, it is delicious and a flavor unlike regular hams that is definitely worth the trip up the hill. We had the lardo on an assorted meats tray (think the Italian version of sushi) and a few beers to relax and savor the local culture. The staff was friendly and inviting, be sure to find this hidden gem.
