The food was superb. An excellent example of creative cooking. The lobster appetizer was very creative with separate pieces prepared in different ways. I had the "Marrow bone" which I thought was a Osso Buco, but this was much better. The veal was cooked with carrots and spices and had a wonderful flavor. My wife had a fist, rombo, that was excellent, as she allowed me a taste, with excellent sauces. The wine list is is long and mostly expensive, but with several wines below 30 euro. We had a "Vertigo" from Friuli that was really good. The bread was a rare treat. Excellently made at the restaurant, several different types. Really good places have really good bread. This place had superb bread. OK, it was pricey, but this is one of the best places we ever ate at.

A well-appointed and friendly restaurant not far from the centre, on the road leading up to Passo Tre Croci and Misurina. Chef Fabio awaits you to taste the dishes of his typical local cooking, and "fusion", with some delicious international ideas too. All of course accompanied by a well-structured wine list. Our restaurant is available for ceremonies, business lunches or dinners, private parties. Catering Service on request. Open every day for lunches and dinners. During the low season closed on Wednesdays.
No haste. Just good food. Good service. Good fun. What more do you need? His place offers the best of northern and southern Italian cuisine. Wiener schnitzel with a side is spaghetti bolognese, no problem! Just great. Don’t speak Italian, no problem. No bs. Wait staff are fluent in almost all European languages along with good ole American! Finally a place where us yanks are welcome and appreciated. (Can you say Paris?).
Anyway definitely go here if you end up in Cortina. Watch out for Roger and his Lotus!

Perched on a mountain pass (between Cortina and Selva di Cadore) with astounding views of the Marmolada. Food was outstanding -- pasta with mountain pesto, mezzelune with zucca and gorgonzola, tender lamb chops, and an assortment of great Deserts. Service was impeccable and some real knowledge of the wines of the region. Will definitely return.

Don't look at the menue, maybe at the wine list if you are very confident with particular labels: just tell the (funny!) owner Alberto "go ahead with daily fresh specialities"!
One of the best seafood restaurants I've ever had the pleasure, simply fantastic! Worth every Euro!

The agriturismo Bon Tajer is the best place to find authentic -and amazing- local food, a warm atmosphere and friendly people! Location is also great! Highly recommended

Good cuisine here, traditional with some concessions to modernity.
Pasta rolls with beetroot and local ricotta were nice to look at and to eat, the ricotta not too intense but the whole ensemble working well in terms of flavours.
Tortelli with aubergine Parmigiana and burrata and tomato juice were very balanced, well made and well cooked, the tomato juice surprisingly the dominant item for it freshness and sheer goodness). The only problem was that whatever the chef was trying to do with the aubergine skins (maybe make them crisp?), the resulting object was just not chewable...
The star of the evening was a tasting dish of local (Alpago) lamb. The dish may look plain (no jus or decorations), but the cooking technique behind it is in fact very good - the meat melted in the mouth. There was (I assume) long cooked shoulder, there was belly, there was heart (absolutely lovely), there was liver, there was a breaded and fried chop, there was a raw slice with some frisee salad, and other stuff I probably forget...in sum, a lamb feast, a large dish, excellent produce cooked with skill.
The restaurant is on a road, the building looks a little drab, the room is not particularly nice, and, especially, it had been a very hot day (34 Celsius) and there was no air conditioning inside. Their attempt at creating some air current by opening the windows were ineffectual. So the setting was more uncomfortable than it normally is for a restaurant with these prices. So, not recommended on hot days.
Prices themselves are however, very fair for the quality and even quantity of the food. Same for wines (we had a Ca Del Bosco 2000 Dosage Zero - an Italian 'champagne'- for a very, very reasonable mark up). Service was kind, even if being one of only few tables inside, and with a full house outside, there were, let's say, some moments of neglect.

Always good to be surprised by this restaurant's goodness. Staff is unbelievably kind. Food is truly delicious and beautifully presented (do photos get the idea across well enough?). To be among Mountains, with a stunning view, fresh air, healthy meals and lovely company... I think it's priceless. Congratulations!

Even though we didn't follow our own directions up there in the title of our review, I must say we had an overall great experience at Ai Lares. Our server, Luigi, was extremely friendly and patient with his silly American guests who fumbled through the menu with their little Italian knowledge. In the end we had Luigi pick our food for us. The pasta was the highlight of our meal. It was a thing flat noodles with spicy sausage and sauce. I would definitely recommend it. I had speck and asparagus for my main ( I can't eat dairy and my options definitely were limited here ) and my husband had pork loin with cheese and mushrooms with polenta. He thought it was just okay. The house wine, while organic (which I appreciated), was just okay as well. The room was cozy with the wood stove going. I would say Luigi was what made our time here memorable. His interactions with us were so kind and warm and he made us feel so welcome. PS if you like grappa--do yourself a favor and buy some there. My husband got a little bottle and it was his favorite he's ever had!

ottima cucina tipica delle Dolomiti, tra i sapori di Italia ed Austria
This cozy and informal little dining spot up the hill was just perfect for an afternoon beer or aperitivo on the Terrace and also features a cozy and inviting dining area inside furnished in the traditional style with a foger. Service and food were just perfect and the owner was hospitable and generous.
