Now this is what one calls a restaurant. Service with a smile like it should be, respectful to the customers, informative and a menu addressing whatever appetite. Fine selection of local dishes, ranging from oysters to John Dory and some good meat dishes. Some calvados to finish of and ones' evening is complete.

Two different bar owners suggested we eat here for my wife's birthday meal and they were spot on. Although the town has many good seafood places the menus here feature a slightly Asian twist that gives them a subtle edge in my view. Service, wine and everything were terrific. Enjoy!

le vauban, one of the longest established restaurants in Port en Bessin, the vauban is hidden away in a small side street just a stone' throw from the harbour and fish market.seafood specialities abound in the two small and cosy dining rooms. daily inspirations and most convivial welcome from the proprietor and his wife.
Visited with my wife during a short trip to Normandy. We stayed with English friends who have a lovely house in Port en Bassin near to the Omaha Beach landing area used by American forces during the D-Day landings in 1944.
We visited Le Vauban on our second evening. Whilst my wife and friends were happy with the restaurant I had a poor experience. I ordered rib-eye steak (medium rare) for my main course which was served with fried new potatoes. Regrettably the steak was as "tough as old boots" and I ended up chewing a lot but spitting it out. I did eat the potaoes which were very nice. The waitress then asked me if everything was all right and I pointed to the steak which was about a third chewed and spat out, and two-thirds uneaten and told her no it wasn't. She then did nothing about it. When the bill arrived at the end there was no deduction and I queried this. The Manageress then came and said I should have pointed it out earlier and they would have given me something else! I argued with her and she very-reluctantly reduced the bill but charged me for the potatoes which I'd eaten. Very small minded in my opinion and I wouldn't go back!

Practiced in culinary delights made from local andseasonal produce, Didier Robin - chef of La Chenevière - always selects the best ingredients from the vegetable garden for his kitchen. Didier Robin offers guests creative "land and sea" gourmet cuisine, inspired by traditional and regional recipes. His high end menu is perfectly complimented with a wine cellar featuring the best wines selected by our sommelier. The restaurant is open for dinner from 7:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. (last orders 21:30) and opens for lunch for large groups or special events.
We were staying at Chateau La Cheneviere and had the 3 course dinner. The service was fine, not stiff despite the settings, but friendly and professional. The before and in between small servings were delicious with a local touch served with good bread and home...MoreDear LDAM_12 Thank you for the great review. The team will be very pleased to learn of your kind comments. We are glad to hear you enjoyed our restaurant and hope to see you again soon. Best regards, Françoise FAUQUET

We were influenced by the generally positive reviews on TA and liked the look of the set menu. Staff were friendly but reserved and initially we thought things would run slowly. Wrong! Actually the service and food flowed smoothly and without fuss and we had a lovely meal. Definitely recommended.

Hard working staff providing a good value food. Even at the busiest times they cope well. It's an ok menu and offers something for all without being lavish. Great location.

We are here one night, but we wouldn't recommend it.
The restaurant was busy so looked inviting. The restaurant was really cold.
My husband ate from the special scallop menu, starter was ok but the main was usual, rice, carrot and scallops...with a strange, indescribable sauce which was basically just salt. I had a savoury crepe which was dry....I probably just chose badly.
On the plus side, the crepe for dessert was nice.
We would recommend trying the other pizza place (la marina) instead, much better.

Could not fault the food or the service for the adults but it is definitely not a child friendly restaurant although they do serve a child'd menu. They have just one high chair and we had three boys the oldest 4 and the other two 2 years and 18 months. The childrens' food was served 20 minutes before the adult food and my daughter was asked to eat her lunch outside as there was no high chair for the 2 year old and she was not allowed to bring the push chair into the restaurant.

Named after the men of 47 Royal Marine Commando who captured and liberated Port-en-Bessin in June 1944 this bar and restaurant gives tribute to those men and does it extremely well. A continuous wide-screen film inside the bar shows latter-day footage of some of the veterans and still photographs adorn the walls. The menu is inviting and one can choose from either set-menus or a la carte and the wine offering is well chosen. We sat by the harbour wall and watched the fishing boats leave on a sunny day; but if not there are dining-tables under awnings outside or tables within. The 47eme is situated just past the harbour swing-bridge, so park under the old watch-tower and walk back to the restaurant for a warm welcome.

We arrived in Port en Besson on Saturday evening about 9.30pm. When we enquired where we could eat we were told that most Restaurants closed at 9.00pm but were advised to try L'After and what good advice that was.
The service was superb, the food excellent and the atmosphere brilliant.
It was so good that of the 5 nights we were in Port en Besson, we dined at the L'fter on 4 of them and each night everything was perfect.
As we were a party of 12, it is very difficult to please everyone, but we were all delighted with L'After.
