Not knowing what to expect we stepped into Andre's without a reservation on a Saturday night in prime late summer to celebrate our wedding anniversary (last minute)... with three young kids in tow. The restaurant was beautiful and we felt underdressed but only for a moment. The hostess was incredibly gracious and somehow managed to fit our family of five in at a very spacious table. Not seeing a kids menu we got concerned but they gladly offered to price any dish based on the kids ages and let the two older ones share a pasta. The servings were so large I thought they must have just given each of them a full plate anyhow! The kids loved the Caesar salad and veggie pasta; we LOVED the beef bourguignon and their hallmark schnitzel. The service though was the standout. So warm and attentive. The food came so fast (and with kids that was very appreciated). Can't recommend Andre's highly enough!

Excellent breakfast or lunch spot... I went with my friend for an early lunch and found it really tasty. I ordered the Eggs Benedict on a recommendation and was not disappointed. Staff was very friendly, and I like that I could see the chef working while we waited. I will definitely go again - good prices, too.

Good atmosphere if you are looking for pub food. The fish and chips are very good...food is cooked well, wait staff are friendly, quick service.
If you are going in the summer eat on the patio... interior is dark and well not very nice.
Good prices, portions are perfect...
You won't have a bad meal but nothing special either...

Lord Elgin Fish & Chips is a family owned business that opened in Port Elgin in 1980. In March 2013 we were voted as 2nd best fish & chips in Canada, by Canadian Living Magazine. We specialize in hand cut halibut and fresh cut fries, or all you can eat haddock Mondays and Tuesdays.
Had the halibut and chips. Perfect.
Delicious fries - obviously freshly cooked (not pre-fried or fried and sitting waiting for an order). Crispy with tender inside.
Halibut - not greasy, perfect batter, dense and white, high quality halibut.Came to the table hot and freshly cooked!!!
Both halibut and fries were generous servings.
Homemade tartar sauce - fabulous. All condiments on the table (no need to ask or go looking for ketchup or malt vinegar. Lemon with the fish.
Coleslaw - we split a side which was more than enough for 2. Delicious
Service - friendly, fast and organized.
They know their stuff here.
Price was in line with what I expect for halibut and chips and top-notch quality!

Was there last night had the grilled mushrooms omg they should call it salt mush! Disgusting! The waitress was Nice but didn't have a clue what was on the menu. At least she was nice. For the main it was the chefs special, steak and shrimp. What was the chef and manager thinking? The steak was full of fat and grisly, something you would get for breakfast tiny. The Shrimps were in a fish batter, mashed potatoes from a box. All for the low price of 40 dollars before tax. Shame on you Allen!

We have eaten at Rosina a few times in the past 2 years - most recently last weekend. It has been reliably excellent. While not too extensive, the menu offers a wide range of choices, most locally sourced. Although an "Italian" restaurant, there are lovely salads and mains (fish, grilled meats) that you would necessarily think of as Italian. Last week our party had a fish special, arancini, meat rigatoni, pizza, salad, and 2 desserts - all were excellent! As others have said, it is wise to reserve ahead - they don't rush you, and give reserved tables lots of time to linger. A couple of the times we've been there has been a young jazz pianist playing - it was a wonderful addition to the atmosphere. I believe that he only plays on weekends. Having eaten several times both here and at almost all of the other rated restaurants in Southampton and Port Elgin, I can say with confidence, that although a little more expensive than the rest, Rosina offers the best food in the area.

we were staying with friends in their cottage for the week and we told them about Aunt Mabel's, not believing they had never been there before . We had been bragging about the food . We went for supper . The restaurant was full ,as usual which we took to be a good sign, since its been over a year since we were there last . Our server was super, told us the days specials and said the had a new chef, so the food was " amazing " .I ordered the Salisbury steak, described as " we start with the leanest beef and add our own special seasonings. " or words to that effect . our friends ordered a variety of items . When the meal came, the freshest of meat was actually two charred hamburger patties, ( the petal shaped burgers we buy at M and M . a scoop of mashed potato so dense it was like stucco, and just as tasteless . So, So disappointed with the food this time . Especially since we recommended it to other people . We spoke to some other people in the parking lot before we left to go back to Sauble Beach and the cottage . They were also not happy with the meals they had ordered .
The new chef isn't going to help, if he serves meals like t he one I had. The gentleman we were speaking to had ordered the rotisserie chicken dinner and waited 25 minutes before the server came back to tell him they were out of chicken . He wasn't at all happy . As good as it was ,last time, is as bad as it was this time . Our friends meals were described as " ok " . odd soups, cream of dill pickle ? Not sure we would drive back from Cambridge again .

Visited with large family group for a birthday while staying in port Elgin. The service was excellent. The waitress who is also the co-owner made
excellent recommendations to ensure we enjoyed our meals. All the meals tasted great. I had the best butter chicken ever. Everything is made from scratch even the naan break. If you are looking for excellent tasting food that isn't the usual pub fare on offer at most restaurants in town this is the place.
