One of the best food you must try in Pontianak. Located in the central of the city, this simply yet neat place offers you nice fish soup everyday. Recommended menu: Napoleon fish soup, with fish lips and other parts of it. Ask the owner for another part of the fishes!

Must have when in Pontianak, even though a little pricy, but worth it, must have their most famous kepiting asap, taste outstanding, clean and nice environment, their steam fish also good, located in quite area, but still in town center, many selection of seafood.

I recommend the chai kue basah (steamed vegetable dumplings). Chai kue has several variants of filling i.e. jicama/bengkoang (my all time favourite), chives/kuchai, and taro/talas. It is very delicious yet cheap. The place could get very crowded at night, hence waiting for some time should be expected to get your order ready for plated or taken home. Besides the chai kue, they also sell several other traditional local dishes like siomay and kiam ko kue. Those items are also quite good, but chai kue is the one you should not skip.

This restaurant has been recommended by a local when I ask edfor a good KweTiaw.
The staff was not very friendly even if the shop was not busy because beginning of the evening. The noodle and the sauce were OK but nothing special and the beef meat was in fact small pieces of intestines. Not really my taste. I had better Kwetiaw in Singapore.

I was here with my families during our visit to Singkawang. It located on the big street city to city road and has wide parking lot. The specialities is pengkang, an traditional cake grilled wrapped with banana(or others) leaves. It has ebi inside the cake which is intriguing and they serves that with a sauce (clamp maybe?). The price for one cake (it was paired) 7000 idr and for the little plate sauce was 25000 idr. They serve seafood as well but I didn't try them. Refreshments drinks also available with simple local taste like lidah buaya ice and jagung susu ice (corn milk).

This restaurant in Gajahmada Street is mainly used for Wedding Reception or special occasion like Senior Birthday Party. The restaurant is very spacious in three floors building. The foods are standard Chinese food with some Teo-Choew specialities from this region. The taste not bad, above average.

Pontianak is famous for it's unique culinary. It is popular destination for foodies coz there are lots of food originated from here and only can be found here. One of the popular and authentic Pontianak food can be found at "Nasi Akwang". It literally means Akwang's (the owner name) Rice. It sells KOI PENG (translated as Chicken Rice). But the main ingredients of this chicken rice are porks. It is rice topped with lots of thinly sliced char-siouw pork, pork and egg cooked in soy sauce, grilled chicken, chinese sausages, bit of sour mustard and bit of cucumber. Lastly it poured with chicken gravy. We can enjoy the rice with Belachan sauce. Really delicious.

Abang Kepiting restaurant in Pontianak is worth having a meal there. Plenty of fish for selection, big crabs, prawns and shell fish etc to select. Barbecue crabs, ikan bakar are delicious. We have these and kangkong stir fried with garlic for our dinner for two persons. The restaurant is popular with locals and visitors and was packed.. Also be prepared to sweat while having your meals as there is no airconditioning, just ceiling fans. This makes eating the barbecue crabs and fish more interesting. Leong char (cooling herbs tea) to accompany the heaty stuffs is nice.
