Visited for lunch with group from cruise ship. After a disappointing start (crab sticks!) the rest of the lunch was really excellent. Despite the large group, the staff could not have been more helpful, and the range of food provided was vast. If they can...MoreHi, John. How are you? The Imperatriz Leopoldina restaurant, with walls hand painted by Dominique Jardy, is a special attraction at the hotel. The contemporary, international and Brazilian gastronomy is exceptional, and the charming atmosphere makes the experience even more special.
Whenever visiting the "Imperial City" of Petrópolis, in the Mountains near Rio de Janeiro, dining at "Imperatriz Leopoldina" is absolutely a must! At the completely renovated "Hotel Solar do Império", a beautiful neoclassical mansion, you will find "Imperatriz Leopoldina", a first class restaurant named after Brazil's first Empress. Belgian Chef Bertrand Materne and his inspired menu will certainly surprise you, as well as its fine decoration (walls fantastically hand-painted by French artist Dominique Jardy), wine list and gentle service. Prices are not different from those practiced on similar restaurants. One last remark: Reservations are highly recommended, principally on weekends. Bon Appétit!

Chateaux des Montagnes is a gastronomic space located in the hills of Petrópolis, in Itaipava, region that has a strong tourist tradition. The company offers a complete selection of wines from the Old and New World, with over 1,200 labels and professional service made by those who know and love quality wines. Attached to the enoteca, the space also offers a cozy and sophisticated bistro with a menu that highlights French and international cuisine. It is therefore the ideal place for those who seek the delights of enogastronomy, but also does not give up impeccable service made by professionals trained to ensure moments of relaxation and pleasure. When in Itaipava do not miss the Chateaux des Montagnes, we are certain it will be an unforgettable experience. Saúde and Bon Apetit. Open from Wednesday to Sunday for lunch and dinner. Expensive and small portion! The cheese and meat Fondue's are ok but the prices are really high and it's few quantity. The meat Fondue as a marketing of really SWISS, is nothing Swiss style. Salt Stone is Brazilian Style, but the taste is not bad. The service is too slowly. Next time we'll look for better opportunities in Itaipava or Petropolis.

We really enjoyed this restaurant - nice spaces, very friendly owners, and excellent pizza! It's a little pricey, and you will need a car to get there, but it's a really nice place if you are looking for something gourmet but not too fancy. We came with young kids, and they were very accommodating. I would go back!

The essence of life is based on four elements: Earth, Air, Water and Fire. And these elements are the essence of our craft and products developed with such affection. The Earth element is related to wheat. Noble grain, golden color, that after cultivated is crushed and transformed into the purest flour. The yeasts responsible for fermentation of the dough, representing the Air element. In the exact dose to give mass to desired lightness. Already the water, a key element of this alchemy, promotes the perfect league so that the dough is hand crafted. The Fire element represented by the heart of the pizzeria: the wood oven. He is responsible for cooking the pizzas that will taste. Our secret? One. Respect for the art of preparing pizzas. We are passionate about our craft.
Went with another couple for dinner. Appetizers were very good and the wine selection was adequate. They were short on some items but it was during Carnaval, the place was probably crowded throughout the holiday. Our main course was pizza and calzoni and they were both very good. Service was on the slow end, but I suppose they were not prepared for a full house and I also noticed there was quite an amount of Takeout being prepared. At the end we were all happy with our choice of place.
