We had a family dinner, and everyone enjoyed their meal. The food was well prepared and the portions were sufficient. It was especially nice that the menu included several options made entirely from local ingredients. The wine list was almost entirely regional, and the wine we selected was properly served. The outside tables are next to a children's playground so we were entertained by many small children enjoying themselves.

It was our last( but definitely not the least) halt during the journey of Black forest. Nothing enchants you more than the mother nature. Hence after hectic journey in the company of nature all tiredness vanishes just like that!!. The Hotel is situated in the valley and our room had balcony from which there was beautiful view of vineyards and flowers and trees! it was so peaceful. Great value for money as spacious rooms, nice restaurants and ambiance, competent staff!!

We went with the family to the restaurants to have regional food in a nice atmosphere. The ordered "Kässpätzle" came ice cold. We sent them back to be reheated and they arrived after 10 minutes as a kind of a Pasta soup. This was a not acceptable quality and the waitress didn't show any reaction to our complains. We will never go there again and I don't recommend that to anybody looking for good food in the area.

Welcome to our restaurant and hotel peacefully situated among vineyards in the heart of South Baden. Experience the renowned hospitality of our region and feel right at home. Our authentic Baden cuisine is recognized for being light, fresh, and creative. Peter Zimmermann surprises his guests with culinary pleasures, fish specialties, and a vast selection of fine local and international wines. We offer you a big choice in different wines from our home regions in the Ortenau and from completely Baden. Even international wines are available in our fine wine cellar. We will be happy to give to our courts the right wine recommendations - let us help you! Tranquil, peaceful, relaxing, a modern and cozy ambiance, where our guests feel comfortable – whether they are on vacation or traveling on business.
The meals at this gasthaus are truly praiseworthy. Breakfasts provide a variety of fruit, cereals, German meats, cheeses, breads and preserves (many homemade). The dinner menu is comprehensive, so we settled for the tagesmenu (menu of the day) on 2 occasions. This was a 3-course meal with appetiser, extremely well presented and tasty - and different each time. We would recommend this restaurant to anyone that appreciates fine dining at a reasonable price, prepared by and under the supervision of the owner, Peter Zimmermann

The food is neither good nor bad, hence the title. Whilst we like the location and ambience, some of the staff do come across as being unfriendly and the service can be slow at times even when quiet.
Would happily go back for drinks, though it wouldn't be our first choice in Oberkirch for food.

DELICATE EATING AS IN Italy Dear friends of Italian pleasure, we thank you for your trust! After a year now, the "dinunno" becomes the "Lui e Lei" [dt. "He and she"]! There is an exciting time behind us. The move with our small family from northern Germany to Oberkirch, the opening, some Christmas parties last year and many, many new faces and good talks. This year we start with new offers of our usual quality. We would like to thank you for believing in us and advancing us with your needs and wishes. GRAZIE E BENVENUTI

We stumbled across this restaurant while hiking in the Durbach hills. It is in a lovely setting and we were able to sit on the outside deck and watch the sunset. The menu is reasonably priced and looked promising; however the food was really nothing special - it seemed as though someone opened prepackaged items, then heated and served them. Still it was a very pleasant environment and it would be worthwhile to go there for a drink.

Our last day with the family in Oberkirch we decided for Italian. We did not regret.
Because all other restaurants were never full, we decided not to make Reservations. When we arrived the place was almost packed!
They were willing to accommodate us anyway, but warned us it could take quite some time to get our dishes.
Nevertheless, we received both courses within 1 hour of arrival which was fine with us. We had several type of dishes, pasta, pista and anti-pasta. It all tasted delicious and freshly made.
Including drinks, 3 starters and 5 main courses, the bill did not exceed 100 euro. Good value for money. It is not for nothing the place is one of the busiest in town!

A little difficult to find in a remote part of Oberkirch, at the edge of the vineyards and next to the Old Manor house of the von Schauenburg family.
A small and intimate place owned by the Lord of the Manor offering refined local dishes with seasonal variations.
There is also a very fine garden with tables available during the warmer part of the year and a romantic vaulted cellar below the Manor House ready for a party if you bring a bigger crowd.
The locals like to linger a bit; try to strike up a conversation and see where it leads.
Actually, on a historic note, the famous German writer HJC von Grimmelshausen worked in the building in the 1660's and for a few years ran a restaurant with the same name Silberner Stern ( Silver Star ) in this very building.
Hans JC von Grimmelshausen wrote most famously about the 30 Years War in which he participated.
Any rumors about a haunting on the part of Herr von Grimmelshausen are wildly exaggerated
