Things to do in Nova Petropolis

Our family recently moved to Sao Leopoldo. And though we've traveled to Novo Petropolis several times, this was the first time we've eaten at Colina Verde. We'll go many more times and just for this restaurant. It's all-you-can-eat, brought to your table. Cost is around U$20 per person at time of this review. The head waiter spoke German, Portuguese and English. He even came outside to take our picture. The restaurant overlooks the Mountains. It's well worth the trip. Well worth the price. It's only open for lunch.

Tasty, homemade, made in the oven, unique, delicious seasoning.
I'd like to suggest you to ask for the pizzas with cheese catupiri and sesame on the edge.
The place is warm and welcoming. Very comfortable to enjoy an excellent meal.
The only bad thing is the waiting list. You need to get there early or you may have to wait an hour to eat. If so, ask for a delicious caipirinha while waiting. :)

This pleasant café keep a very loyal German style with a pleasant home-stl atmosphere. Typical cakes, sweets and desserts are very good and, fortunately, not expensive as well.

Nice sample and harmonic group of well preserved trees right in the middle of an urban center area. Just one among many eco-friendly attitudes of the German descendants locals.

I was there for a dinner and tried the foundue. It was very good and the price for that food in the winter ( commercial season) was fair. Staff is very polite and the restaurant is fantastic... Full of history and ancient documents, etc.

This is a bakery who supposedly delivers premium gourmet pastries and also allows you to sit at tables and have a European-style breakfast a la carte. The ambiance is great and the decor is very cute. The service is efficient, although not particular courteous, and the whole place is spotless clean and well designed and organized.
The problem is the items sold. The savory ones (including croissants) are dull and mushy. The sweet treats are uneven: some are well made and really delicious (like the one with a cream made of coconut and pineapple chunks), while others are boring, plain or just inedible. No soul, no explosion of favors in your mouth. What a bummer!

O ambiente, no horário do almoço, é meio escuro.

Our group of 8 happened upon this buffet restaurant during a stop in Nova Petropolis, and we had a short wait on a Sunday afternoon. The place was packed, and it is not a small restaurant. Carefully organized and professionally run, this is assembly line food service at its best. There is a huge selection of meats, some vegetables, and at least a dozen desserts. Not recognizing many of the dishes, and finding much of the vegetables to be barely warm, I did not enjoy the meal with the noise and wait staff hurrying around trying to keep up with the piles of dishes being left on the tables as patrons went back for salads or desserts. And in this area, known for the German influence, it was almost laughable that the bratwurst being served had only a small container of a U.S. brand name yellow mustard nearby. Horrors!

Close to it: the variety of soups buffet is very good and aquesce winter of Serra Gaucha. Good service. It was Friday night but it was full showing that customers like. Also has delicious pastries and "Cucas" famous and variety of breads. Very good cost benefit. Not very big but cozy.
